The Sindh Ajrak Welfare Trust provides scholarships and job placement to close this gap and strengthen healthcare. Pakistan needs 1.3 million nurses but has only 5.2 per 10,000 people (WHO recommends 30). This shortage causes high mortality and poor care, especially in remote areas. Nursing education saves lives, supports mothers and children, and empowers rural women with stable careers.
Pakistan faces severe nursing shortage: 1.3M deficit, ratio 5.2 per 10,000 vs WHO's 30. Key issues: financial barriers (tuition, uniforms, transport), lack of awareness undervaluing nursing, acute shortages in remote areas (maternal/child care), gender/regional inequities, poor infrastructure, and overburdened healthcare system.
The project solves nursing education problems by: providing scholarships for tuition, uniforms, transport, and stipends; prioritizing female students from rural/low-income families; using existing accredited nursing schools near students' homes; offering mentorship, academic tracking, and job placement support; and raising awareness through campaigns. This removes financial barriers, promotes gender equity, and increases qualified nurses in underserved areas.
This increases enrollment of underprivileged nursing students, growth in qualified nurses to reduce workforce shortages, women's socio-economic empowerment through stable healthcare careers, reduced gender/regional inequities, and sustainable job placement. This strengthens Pakistan's healthcare system, improves patient care in remote areas, and creates inclusive, long-term career paths in the health sector.
