We work to remove or otherwise overcome the barriers to education faced by some of Zimbabwe's most vulnerable. Supporting predominantly children and their families our work includes; Securing Birth Certificates - a gateway to basic rights including education, employment and social services. Empowering Women - skills for life, specialist training and work experience. Conservation Agriculture - sustainable, low tech but high yield methods for farmers in the face of climate change. And so much more
Vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe face wide ranging barriers related to poor education, lack of access to basic services, a weak economy, food scarcity and more. For women the problems are substantially worse with ingrained inequalities further limiting life opportunities. With so many basics denied or hard to access life opportunities for the vulnerable are extremely limited with many living in poverty and so many of these at risk of abuse and exploitation.
The project looks to remove the barriers that are faced by those in these difficult situations. Enabling improved access to education and higher standards of education our work ensures that vulnerable people are better placed to live a life with genuine opportunity, with dignity and independence. The work removes dependencies, reducing the risk of abuse and exploitation whilst empowering people with the skills and confidence to raise themselves out of poverty and sustain it.
The project effects a cultural shift to ensure that education is valued by all but particularly for women and girls. Those who access education overwhelmingly go on to access social and legal services as well as employment and voting. They strengthen the nation by voting for its future. They strengthen the economy by virtue of the money they earn and spend as well as the skills they bring. They also stand as a testament to all that education is the silver bullet to enable a good life.
