FOCUS Nepal as a Christian NGO has been actively working empower unprivileged and outcast women in poor economic condition.We value gender balance with high priority to women for education.In Nepal women often suffer being uneducated, faces injustice in many ways. We helped over 1000 women to be graduates, capable for jobs and occupations.Our goal is to raise status of women and wipe social stigma: "Do not educate women." This project will bring differences in the lives of 20 women and girls.
The women because of poor economic condition have not been able to study higher education and doing vocational courses as well to equip themselves for productive areas. Women literacy rate is 44.5%.2/3 of women in Higher Education.In 1985, out of 600, only 18% women TU staff. Many come from backward communities.Many do not proceed for Higher Ed due to insufficient income because of misconception of women as economic liability.This project will empower 20 women to get local employment.
After Board select the number of students in need as guided by criterion and policy.We raise fund locally and from abroad to provide scholarship and support services presenting project.The incoming funds are decreasing.We have to support 154 students, out of them 50% are women.We donot have fund for 46 students. We are trying this time to raise fund to raise fund from online cloud funding for 20 women students studying higher education: medicine, engineering, vocational short courses and so on.
The project aims to develop 20 women to become leaders and women for advocate for retaining women having qualifications to work locally and capable of initiating jobs. They will become motivators for women to refrain from going abroad for jobs. They become instrumental in bringing changes among men for positive mentality and stopping violence and inequality behavior of men.
