Educate Ethical and Innovative Leaders for Africa

Dear Ashesi Community,

Thank you for helping us complete the GlobalGiving Open Challenge. It is great to see such a strong response in support of the work of our university. With your help, we will continue to empower Ashesi students with the critical thinking skills, concern for others, and ethical courage they will need to transform their continent.   

At Ashesi, we challenge our students to develop a vision of a better future for Africa and the skills to bring that vision closer to reality. In our labs and collective projects, students are encouraged to innovate and apply their new skills to complex real-world challenges, and to create pragmatic, affordable solutions to local problems. Our liberal arts core fosters leadership, ethics and breadth of thinking, while our majors are in high-impact fields such as computer science and business.

Our effort to create a new education model that fills Africa’s most urgent skills gaps has paid off. Every year, 100% of Ashesi graduates receive quality placement offers. And 95% of our alumni have stayed in Africa to launch their careers.

Now, we plan to double our impact -- by continuing to become more pan-African, expanding our student body, and adding new high-impact majors that Africa urgently needs, starting with engineering. I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
