A total of 92 students are enrolled in the Rural Education Scholarship Program as of March 2023. The majority of these students live with surviving family members and are supported directly by scholarships. 17 of the students in our program are now unable to live with their families, so we have placed them in boarding schools that have been thoroughly verified and are near their families and communities of origin.
In the second week of December 2022, the HCC Nepal team traveled to six places in the Dhading district (Baireni, Bungchung, Dhading Besi, Salyantar, Katunge, and Darkha) to complete student monitoring and scholarship distribution. During this trip, the staff were able to meet 74 students and distribute a year-long scholarship fund, warm winter clothes, school stationery supplies, and personal care items (soap, cold cream, hair oil, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc). Stationery, winter clothes, and personal care items were combined into a nice gift package for each child and updated pictures were gathered with each student's update.
As part of the trip, the team participated in the following activities:
In the first week of February 2023, HCC staff Laxmi, Dinesh, Shristi, and HCC youth Koshish and HCC president Saraswati Tamang traveled through five schools in Benighat, Rorang Dhading. During this trip, the HCC team distributed winter clothes that included pairs of warm school tracksuits, t-shirts, school shoes, socks, mufflers, caps, and handkerchiefs to 292 students.
The schools and families of the supported students were grateful for the support and expressed how it would positively affect the students' lives.

She was very happy to receive the packages of school supplies, personal care items, and warm winter clothes from the HCC team. She is doing excellent in her studies. Recently, she had her 1st and 2nd final examinations at her school and both times she secured 4.0 GPA. Her favorite subjects at school are Mathematics and English. Her hobbies are skipping, sketching, and reading storybooks with her friends.
She lives with his aunt's family in Dhading, Baireni. She also has a younger sister back in Chitwan. During school breaks her aunt Jamuna takes her to Chitwan to see her mother, grandmother, and little sister.
She says, “Thank you for all your help and I am so happy to be in school!”
This positive impact on the lives of these students would not have been possible without your sponsors and donors. All the credit goes to you all. Thank you so much for supporting Himalayan Children’s Charities.
