Dear Friends,
In summer people slow down, but we don’t! A whole series of great emotions flooded us like a wave! We have formed new partnerships with companies believing in the power of education. We met active young people who embraced our ideas. And, we have launched the mobile application of Khan Academy in Bulgarian!
Mobile app of Khan Academy in Bulgarian
We are so excited! Knowledge is already not just online, it’s in your pockets! It’s easier than ever to learn, with this first of its kind application in Bulgaria. Of course, totally for free. We believe that Khan’s new Bulgarian mobile app will become students’ “best friend” in the upcoming school year. Below you can see how it looks like, and dowload it at the offered links.
Khan Academy quiz at the Bridge Festival in Vidin
The Bridge Festival is one of Bulgaria’s biggest youth festivals, held in Vidin every summer. It features over 100 talented young people 14 to 21 years old, over 10 workshops on visual arts, music and dances, craft and entrepreneurship workshops and various other events. Education Without Backpacks presented Khan Academy at its tenth edition in July 2019. We organized a funny quiz game for teenage freaks and geeks, with various interesting questions from the world of knowledge and science, as offered by Khan Academy. We also presented Khan Academy and the new app in front of 100 young people.
7 teams participated in our first-ever quiz, and all of them achieved highest scores! They even managed to fulfil our special challenge - to draw a snowman with Javascript on Khan Academy!
We can’t wait for next summer festival - be ready for even greater quiz challenges!
Physics courses according to Bulgarian state curriculum
It’s a fact! Now anyone can come to Physics classes prepared exactly as the teacher wants. Our Khan Physics content is already curated - according to Bulgarian state curriculum. Isn't it great?
Coming soon on Khan in Bulgarian: World History, Music and Wireless Philosophy
We are happy to announce that we have already started translations of the World History and Wireless Philosophy content! The Music section is next. This is possible thanks to the support of the US Embassy in Sofia and Nedelya Cake Company! Stay tuned.

New team member on board
Venesa Madzharova began her internship with us as a “Translator-Editor”. Her contract is funded through the Youth Employment Initiative and the European Social Fund through the 2014-2020 Human Resources Development Operational Program. As a philologist with interests in pedagogy, she is a great addition to our team. Welcome!
Teachers' training
Our last two teacher trainings before the summer vacation went great. Besides training teachers in Khan Academy and other digital tools, we broadened our community. Long-time practicing teachers retiring this year shared experiences and ideas with colleagues who’ll be entering classrooms for the first time this fall. Everyone went home so excited and happy! There is nothing more valuable in our work with teachers, than that!
Sweet surprise! Literally!
Maybe you remember our school visits earlier this year? At one of them, our team was really surprised. Mrs. Iveta Manolova, a teacher from Pravets, demonstrated us that education is not just important; it can be also very tasty! Mrs. Manolova organizes learning competitions with Khan Academy and she personally prepares all great sweet prizes for successful students! Just have a look at the headline picture again. Thank you, Mrs. Manolova, for all your dedication!
For more great news and achievements - please support us again! Or ask your friends to do so. We hope your summer was as exciting as ours!
