Marvelous and Miracle - Ten Years On

We met Marvelous and his sister, Miracle, back in 2014/15, when we started our Disadvantage to Advantage Initiative.

Their family had gone through a devastating ordeal after a stranger sexually abused Miracle, and Evelyn, their mom was picking up the pieces alone. Pregnant with her fourth child, and living on her meagre earnings from her petty trade, Evelyn was living on daily grace.

Marvelous was among the first ten kids to get a child sponsor in April 2015, but his younger sister, Miracle didn't qualify for the programme then, as she was too young.

However, when Miracle turned 9, Marvelous' sponsor was happy to sponsor Miracle also, and for the last ten years, they have been stedfast in their support of the siblings.

Even after Marvelous completed his secondary schooling, the support continued, and now, Marvelous has presented his final year project at Delta State University and will soon be a Bsc Graduate of Accounting.

When we asked how he feels finally graduating after all these years, he said:

"It's been a great journey and it's been God, through the help of the gift of men and also, sponsors, supporters and also to the people who have contributed greatly in making me who I am today. Your generous and your outstanding support over the years has been mind blowing. I'm super grateful for all and everything."

Miracle is all grown up now, 18 years old and gorgeous. She just graduated from Senior Secondary School, and Emeke was present to capture the event with pictures. During a chat I had with her afterwards, she said:

"I feel fulfilled, blessed, grateful, happy, wonderful, miraculous and so joyful!"

Evelyn is so grateful for the support Fair Life Afrca Foundation and our partners have given her over the years. Almost ten years ago, in September, while giving birth to Majesty, Evelyn suffered a partial stroke, making life that much harder. But this strong woman has pulled through, and with her mother's care, was able to raise Majesty and take care of her family. However, her current work as a masseuse and the economic challenges in the country has meant that Majesty hasn't been able to go to school like her siblings.

We would love to continue to assist this lovely family and give Majesty the opportunity to live up to her name, just like Marvelous and Miracle!

Thank you for your generous donations. If you are not sponsoring a child with us, please consider it. Child sponsorship is just N40k a month. Thank you for joining us as we empower more people for a fairer life.
