New Year Update
By Lemic Ngalla | Project Director
![]()
Greetings,
I hope you are doing well.
4 students sat their national secondary scchool examination last year and passed. They will be joining various colleges to pursue different courses.
Our transition rate from high school to university has always been at 100%. With that, Upendo makes all efforts to ensure that all students join college/university and are supported until they complete their course. Besides financial support, Upendo also mentors them across their academic journey to ensure that they do well and also become role models to the younger beneficiaries.
This incredible work has been made possible by a community of supporters like you and together we are changing the lives of these wonderful children.
Thank you for your continued support to Upendo beneficiaries and activities.

Special Feature: Venessa
Venessa scored a B (plain) in last year's final national examination and is awaiting joining university in September this year. She has been placed at Pwani University to study a bachelor's degree in Education.
Her determination and desire for education made her walk a distance of about 5 kilometers every day to and from Upendo to attend classes for 11 years; until she completed her primary school education.
In 2020, Venessa sat for her KCPE and scored 352 marks out of 500 marks and got admission at Matuga Girls National School and also secured a scholarship from Wings to Fly Scholarship programme – funded by Equity Bank Foundation.
Her resilience, hard work and determination is a testament of her excellent performance she achieved in her final examination.
Since the start of this year, Venessa has been coming to the project to volunteer and has been helping out on project activities including assisting the younger ones with their personal studies, helping the cooks serve food and general cleaning.
Your generous contributions have made this possible.
Thank you.
