Build an African Child Initiative (BACHI) is seeking for US$ 50,000 (Fifty thousand dollars) for a proposed project to: "Educate a refugee child for a year in Uganda". 100 vulnerable refugee children from Pagirinya, Adjuman district in Uganda are expected to benefit through formal primary to secondary education support with emphasis on skills development. We will be offering a few tools to some trainees to provide skilled labour and be self-reliant in future.
Persistent civil conflicts in our neighboring countries especially in South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo have led to an influx of refugees in Uganda. There are 1.5 million Children in need of humanitarian assistance mostly in Northern parts of Uganda, 842,536 are refugee children. Therefore, Build an African Child Initiative (BACHI) is struggling to offer Education support to at least 100 refugee children from Pagirinya refugee Camp in Uganda to enable them realize their potential.
The project will assist at least 100 refugee children access quality education and basic skills development from Pagirinya refugee settlement camp. Each refugee Child identified will be supported to obtain scholastic materials, school fees , health care and transport to and from the school among others. Build an African Child Initiative(BACHI) will also offer conflict management skills for peace-making and urge them to participate in development process and become self- reliant.
By end of the project, 100 refugee and vulnerable children plus their surviving family members in refugee camp will have been educated and empowered to understand and experience new violence free environment. Majority of them will realize their potential. Build an African Child initiative and the donors will have built a strong relationship and supporting mechanisms that enhances future empowerment programmes on peace-making among the refugees in Uganda.
