400 Needy Kashmir Students Receive Eid Clothes

Dear HOPE Friends,

  • This week, 400 underserved children in Kashmir were thrilled to receive beautiful new Eid clothes
  • The Covid-19 pandemic delayed our yearly distribution for 2020
  • Children will wear the clothes for Eid in May 2021 and for special occasions

Thank You to All Our Donors who Contributed towards this Zakat-Eligible Cause!

These children receive new clothes once a year through your generosity. Thank you for making them feel special through this gesture!

Dear HOPE Friends,

Last month, HOPE received a gift of over 650 boys' uniforms from Al-Salam School in Dubai. The uniforms consisted of polo shirts and trousers and were distributed to students of HOPE formal and home schools. Uniform distribution occurred in Kashmir, Muzaffargarh, Zia Colony, Thatta, and urban areas of Karachi.

HOPE students come from very poor backgrounds where families struggle to meet the basic needs of their children. HOPE USA wishes to extend their gratitude to the private donors who initiated this noble gesture and Al-Salam School in Dubai.

The pictures shown are from uniform distribution in Kashmir.

Best regards,

Ambereen Siddiqui

Dow Medical Class of '96 Sponsors HOPE Home School
Dow Medical Class of '96 Sponsors HOPE Home School
Dear HOPE Friends,

We are thrilled to share with you the news that the class of '96 of renowned Dow Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan has generously sponsored an existing HOPE Home School along with a new HOPE Home School. The new school caters to students from preschool till 5th grade and is situated on a mountaintop in Kashmir. The community surrounding the new home school in Kashmir is especially grateful because the 50 students who attend did not have access to education within their community. Altogether, the Dow Medical class of '96 has pledged to support the 170 students for the entirety of their education.

We wanted to thank the Dow Medical University class of '96 for this incredible gesture and Dr. Afil Jamali of the HOPE UK Board of Directors for initiating and organizing this movement.

Below, please find pictures of the new HOPE Home School in Azad Kashmir.

If anyone is interested in learning about sponsorship opportunities such as these, feel free to reach out at anytime (hopeusa@hope-ngo.com).

Stay safe, everyone!

Dr. Mubina Visits Students in Kashmir
Dr. Mubina Visits Students in Kashmir

Dear HOPE Friends,

In order to motivate and grow community spirit, HOPE Chairperson and founder, Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla visited the Kashmir home schools three weeks ago, just prior to their opening for fall.  E-learning is of course not a feasible option for the 1,810 students in the home schools (due to cost and logistics) so the visit was dedicated to teaching students about the importance of wearing masks, gloves, handwashing, and social distancing.  The home schools in Kashmir are taught outdoors amongst the beautiful scenery of the mountains and nature, and this serves as a natural measure for protection.  Below, please find the activities that your donations have supported to encourage the students and teachers for an unprecedented start to school:

  • Students were treated to a meal of biryani and juice provided by HOPE
  • Students were given masks and gloves and taught about social distancing and staying safe
  • Teachers were given gifts by Dr. Mubina as a token of gratitude
  • Students were given school supplies (stationary, books) that were provided by HOPE

In order to abide by Standard Operating Procedures and keep the teachers and children safe, the various grades will be starting school to a staggered schedule, with the senior students starting on September 15, 2020 and the youngest students starting on September 22, 2020.  Dr. Mubina's presence was an unexpected surprise for the students and teachers and served as a welcoming gesture to the start of a new school year.

I wanted to also recognize Ms. Fozia Rizwan, headmaster of the schools in Kashmir for her dedication to the students and teachers and for helping orchestrate this event.  She has overseen the students of Kashmir for several years now and has always proven to be a encouraging and steady presence, especially in times such as these.

As school starts in Kashmir, I wanted to thank all our supporters again for their incredible support for our education efforts in Kashmir.  Through your donations, we have been able to give marginalized children in Kashmir a quality education and even continue our initiatives in unprecedented times such as these.

Some of you may be aware that for the 2nd year in a row (and the 2nd time this year), our campaign was chosen to participate in the Safer World campaign.  Only 11 out of 185 eligible campaigns were chosen and we are so humbled to be a part of this group.  This means that all donations to our campign will be matched (until funds run out):

  • New donors will be matched 100% (up to $1,000)
  • Previous donors will be matched 50% (up to $1,000)

In Ramadan we earned 1st place on the Safer World leaderboard and we are hoping to do well this time around, too.  Please share our campaign amongst your circles!

As always, stay safe and healthy!

Best regards,

Ambereen Siddiqui

Dear HOPE Supporters,

We hope you all had a safe and blessed Eid-ul-Adha! The HOPE USA team is excited to update you with Qurbani 2020 pictures. This year, due to coronavirus, HOPE did not receive corporate support, but we are humbled to report that on the HOPE USA side, we surpassed our Qurbani record from last year. Overall, here are the figures for Qurbani 2020:

  • 11,000 Poor People were given Qurbani meat
  • Areas of distribution in Pakistan included: Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Muzaffargarh, and Azad Kashmir
  • In total, HOPE distributed meat from 15 cows and 22 goats

Attached, please find pictures of the distribution:

Thank you to all of you for your unwavering support and trust of our poverty-alleviation measures such as Qurbani!

Best regards,
