This project aims to provide education support to 30 low income deaf children. It will their education through provision of school uniform, books, pens and contribution towards their school fees. This support will enable them overcome the socioeconomic challenges hindering their education , and if successful, thereafter they be able to advance to technical institutions where they will enrich their potential through higher knowledge and skills and secure their future.
Most children who are deaf are abandoned by their parents and left with caregivers especially grandmothers. The grand mothers and guardians do not have the strength, time and economic ability to take such children to school thus missing out big on their basic education. In cases where such children get opportunity to study, they begin their kindergarten very late mostly after 12 years. Given their poor background they are faced with challenges such as lack of fees, uniform, books, pens etc.
This project will help help us retain identified children in school by paying their school fees, provision of uniform for comfort, books and other necessary scholastic materials. Provision of sanitary towels will help to enhance confidence and self awareness among deaf adolescent girls so that they are both mentally and socially strong to stay in school and pursue their edducation.
If enabled to go through basic education, deaf children first of all will develop effective communication skills which will help them learn more about the world around them while also gaining social skills. Education will help them know where to direct their attention that leads to greater life achievements, and with the right support, deaf children can achieve as well as their hearing peers in both the private and public sectors of the society.
