Educate school dropout children in rural India

Following are the activities conducted / undertaken for the abovementioned period:

1. World Environment day celebration on 5^th June, 2015:

World environment day was celebrated across all the regions of LOLT. Sharing the pictures of the event where students from urban schools were invited to the rural areas and they helped in planting the fruit bearing tree saplings across the region along with our students from the rural schools.

2. Urban Rural Exchange Program:

Urban Rural Exchange program under our school connect initiative helps urban students and rural students interact and exchange different ideas among themselves. It also helps the urban students to understand the various challenges faced by the rural students, particularly pertaining to the techniques and facilities of learning methodologies. This is a great way to increase the bonding among the students coming from different strata of life.

Summer Activities:

a. Self-defence training:  2 days ‘Self-defence Training’ for girls was conducted at LOLT’s Khopoli centre of Raigad district for our Anando and Anando Plus program students.

b. ‘Best out of waste’ activity: Under this activity LOLT students created paper bags out of newspaper and distributed this to the shopkeepers.

c. Workshop on ‘Nutrition & Exercise for good health’: A workshop was undertaken by the local gym trainer for the students of the Thane centre of LOLT. The main objective of this session was to bring awareness among the students about good nutrition intake and regular exercise which is must for good health and education.

d. Craft Making session: At Thane centre of LOLT, craft making session was conducted for the students.

3. Computer literacy program:

Nearly 500 students from the schools located in remote areas in Pench – Madhya Pradesh were provided training in basics of computers. This was initiated through a joint collaboration with Kokha foundation. This was made possible by ‘Shifting Labs’ technology where laptops were shifted from one area to another area once the computer training got completed in a particular area.

4. Worshop on ‘Painting with brush’ & ‘Card making’:

Worshop on painting with brush and card making was conducted at Worli centre of LOLT for the students of Anando program.

5. Educational Material Distribution program:

Educational Material Distribution was done across all regional centres of LOLT in which schoolbags, textbooks, notebooks, compass box, stationery and uniforms were distributed to all LOLT Anando students.

6. Yoga sessions:

At Light of Life Trust's Worli centre in association with 'Ayangar Yoga Institute', session on yoga was conducted. Students thoroughly enjoyed and felt rejuvenated after this session.

7. Mahacharcha program:

Glimpses of a unique program - 'Mahacharcha' which is organised by Light of Life Trust, where distinguished academic students along with their parents shared their strategic methods and experiences of their academic performance with their juniors. They are also felicitated during this event by their school principal and teachers. One such event held at LOLT Kashele centre - Karjat district.

8. ‘Anant’ – an arts education project:

On 10th July, 2017, Light of Life Trust under their arts education project - Anant, introduced singing and dance classes at Nagar parishad school in Alibag. 45 students became a part of this unique initiative. Where, school principal and teachers present during the inaugural function appreciated the efforts taken by LOLT.

9. Workshop on Personality Development:

Personality Development Workshop for the students was conducted at Worli centre of Light of Life Trust. Students enjoyed the session and also participated in the role plays and activities conducted during this session.

10. Visit at Science Exhibition:

Light of Life Trust Worli centre students along with their mentors visit Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) train which had its halt at CST station, Mumbai on 21st July, 2017.

The basic objective was to contribute towards increasing understanding of the science of climate change, the observed and anticipated impacts, and different possible responses. The state-of-the-art exhibition aboard SECAS aimed to create awareness among various sections of society, especially students, as to how Climate Change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation.

11. Guest Lectures:

Nandurbar region centres of Light of Life Trust conducted guest lectures for the graduate students of LOLT. These sessions were quiet encouraging and motivating for the students. Guests were impressed by the confidence shown by the students.

12. Capacity Building Session for students:

Under AnandoPlus program (which is for higher secondary students) at Wai, Shelu Bazar and Khiniraja centres of Light of Life Trust in Washim region, capacity building session for students was conducted. The purpose of this capacity building session was to promote the students’ knowledge and skills. Sessions were based on topics like, “Success is in your hand” & “How to develop leadership”.

These sessions were very enlightening for the students. It also showed their utmost participation and response.

13. Regional festival celebration:

Raksha Bandhan, a festival of “bond of protection and love” between brother and sisters was celebrated across all the centres of Light of Life Trust by the students.

The festival celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters. On Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. This symbolizes the sister's love. The brother gives her a token gift and a promise to protect her.

14. Awards, recognition and scholarship to students:

At the Aashayein event held at Jamnabai Narsee School, Light of Life Trust students of Anant programme (an arts education programme) won the First prize, both in Solo and Group dance category along with 6 months of scholarship to purse their career in dance.

15. Health care program:

Light of Life Trust under its Medical Mobile Unit - Healthcare programme, conducted ORS (OralRehydrationSolution) therapy awareness camp between 23rd to 29th of July, 2017. It was a collaborative effort by LOLT along with Indian Association of Pediatrics and Karjat Medical Association for Rural and Tribal population in and around Karjat region.

This effort by LOLT got press coverage in the local Pudhari newspaper published on 8th August, 2017.

16. Peers Day celebration:

In order to inculcate the leadership and teamwork qualities among students. Light of Life Trust Alibaug regional centres conducted Peers day and Dahi handi (Gokulashtami) festival. Various workshops were held during this event like making colour paper collage, tying friendship band, painting etc.

Students enjoyed the session thoroughly and learned about the team work importance and leadership qualities.

Peers Day was celebrated at Jalna centre of Light of Life Trust. This activity concentrates on friendship and its importance.

Each child gets his/her friend to the centre to be a part of this workshop or the activity. Every friend speaks about his friend about the changes he experience from the time he has been supported by LOLT.

Differences and misunderstandings among the friends are also weeded out which helps in building strong relationships.

Programmatic Report: December 2016 to February 2017

Synopsis: This project report list down the activities covered during the period ranging March 2017 to May 2017 by Light of Life Trust at different locations spread across Maharashtra through its centers for their Project Anando which focuses on reinstating secondary school dropouts and help them to complete their education.

Activities conducted / undertaken for the following period:

On 24.03.2017 -  A 'Text book donation campaign' was conducted at Janta college - Khopoli and Abhinav college - Karjat by Taskforce students of Light of Life Trust form Khopoli and Karjat centre of Light of Life Trust

On 26.03.2017 - Students of Worli centre of Light of Life Trust participated in the 'Making Mumbai' event held at Dharavi. This event consisted of various events.

On 26.03.2017 - An Annual Day was celebrated at Thane centre on 26th March 2017, about 150 children along with their parents were present. Students participated in various events and competitions like solo Dance, Group Dance, Skits and Rangoli Designing.

On 30.03.2017 - A guidance session was organized for the students who appeared for their 10th examination at Nadurbar centre of LOLT. Light of Life Trust CEO, Mr. Pradeep Koppikar addressed the students and gave valuable inputs for their career.

On 30.03.2017 - An exposure visit was organized to Suyog Matimand school in Mangaon by LOLT's Anando plus Taskforce members.

On 01.04.2017 - At Worli centre - Mumbai of LOLT, 10th appeared students were called and a feedback was taken about their exams and a farewell was given to them.

On 01.04.2017 - Students appearing for 2nd term exams of 9th and 8th at Georai Bazaar and Bhatepuri centre of Jalna District.

On 02.04.2017 - A group discussion was conducted for Anando Plus students at LOLT Worli centre - Mumbai.

On 06.04.2017 - A special session for girls was conducted at KBP school, Pirkon village in the tehsil of Uran, Raigad district by Light of Life Trust. This guidance session was conducted for students of 8th and 9th std. This special guidance session for girls was based on 'Impact of hormonal changes in teenage'.

On 08.04.2017 - Group meeting was conducted by Ms. Shruti a representative from Light of Life Trust for Anando Plus students at Wai, Shelubazar and Khiniraja centre in Washim district. Total 44 students participated in the program. The focus of this meeting was development of 'Task Force' - a group of Anando plus students who become the representative of Light of Life Trust and carry forward different activities of LOLT.

From 13.04.2017 to 16.04.2017 - At several centre's of Light of Life Trust viz., Khopoli - Khalapur taluka of Raigad district, Alibaug centre, Tiware & Kondiwade centre - Karjat of Raigad district, for the newly enrolled students along with their parents a meeting was organized. This event focused on disseminating the knowledge of the project Anando and Anando Plus, about Light of Life Trust and its Vision, Mission, Goals & Objectives. Also, beneficiaries of Anando and Anando Plus interacted with the parents and students and shared their experiences.

On 18th April, 2017 at Karjat office, activity of making sets of book for distribution to SSC students was conducted. Two parent representatives were present to volunteer for this activity from Kashele village.

On 18th April, 2017 at Karjat office a visit and orientation session was organized for Anando students of Worli - Light of Life Trust center.

On 20th April, 2017 at Karjat office, 'Student - Parent meeting' for the new students was conducted. This meeting was led by our old students who explained to the new joiner's along with their parents the various activities, workshops, supplementary maths and English  sessions conducted by Light of Life Trust.Senior social worker Ms. Mohini also guided the parents about various rules and regulations of Light of Life Trust.

On 21st April, 2017 at Khopoli - Anando Plus centre of Light of Life Trust, a one day Journalism workshop was conducted by Mr. Vidyanand Ovhal. Many students participated in this event and they got enlightened about the career opportunities in Journalism.

On 20th & 21.04.2017 at Mangrulpir - Washim office of Light of Life Trust, Student Friendly Supplementary Education Program (SFSEP)  for Maths & English was conducted. Discussion on What ? Why? How? Which? pertaining to subjects and teaching methodology was discussed by the SFSEP teachers.

On 22nd April, 2017 at Worli - Light of Life Trust center, parents meeting was conducted for enrollment of new students with Light of Life Trust.

On 23rd April, 2017 at Karjat, Light of Life Trust organized a guest lecture for 8th and 9th std beneficiaries. The topic of discussion was 'Adolescent age, changes and challenges : Part II'. This session was conducted by Dombivili Rotary Club and led by Mr. & Mrs. Dr. Tiwari. Also, seen in the picture Mr. Prajesh who runs acting school at Dombivali and also is a co-director for Marathi serials conducted innovative and creative activities with the students.Mr Sanjay Choudhary - professor  at Thane college took session with children.

On 23rd April, 2017 at Lokkruti centre, Mohili - Karjat, one day workshop on Journalism was conducted to build up interest of the Anando Plus students. This session was conductd by Mr. Vidyanand Ovhal. In this session he gave detailed information on the Journalism course as well as career opportunities in this field. In all 22 students participated in the programme.

On 26th April, 2017 at Worli centre, Mumbai of Light of Life Trust a Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) session was conducted by Ms. Aishani Shah from Artscape - Srijon Foundation Undertaking.

On 28th April, 2017 at Worli centre, Mumbai of Light of Life Trust a session on 'Motivation & Love towards animals' was conducted for children by Mr. Praveen Sir.

On 02nd May, 2017 at Worli centre, Mumbai of Light of Life Trust a session on 'Best out of Waste' was conducted. Students made new notebooks out of the old ones.

On 5th May, 2017 at Jagruti centre, Tiware - Karjat, 'Anant' team organized Tabla workshop conducted by Mr. Ganesh from Avartan Gurukul, Pune.

On 05th & 06th of May, 2017 -  'Anando - programme' in collaboration with International Award for Young People (IAYP) had organized adventurous journey with Alibaug & Nehuli Centre students of LOLT on 5th & 6th May 2017. Total 20 students participated in it, it was a wonderful experience. During this event different type of activities related to Environmental, Social, Adventurous and Cultural topics were undertaken. River Crossing, Tree Climbing, Rope Crossing, Rope Climbing, Tree Plantation, Time with Environment, Social Issues Rectification and many more like minded activities were performed by the students.

On 6th and 8th of May, 2017 at Watur and Mantha centres in Jalna district of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted first meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents.

On 8th of May, 2017 at Worli centre of LOLT, 'Calligraphic Workshop' was started with enrollment of 10 students and this workshop is conducted by Ms. Shivani Parekh.

On 9th of May, 2017 - Mr. Vaibhab More our Anando Plus beneficiary was select for the state level Weightlifting competition conducted at ND Sport Club, Badlapur.

On 9th of May, 2017 at Nutan Vasahat centre in Jalna district of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted first meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents.

On 12th of May, 2017 at Bhatepuri centre in Jalna district of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted first meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents.

On 14.05.2017 - Part 1 - On this day at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust a workshop for women's titled 'Mahila Udyojak' was conducted informing women's about empowerment through skill training resulting in employment.

On 20th May, 2017 at Wai and Dhakli centre in Akola district of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted first meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents. In this meeting LOLT representatives along with Mr. Sable of the school in which this meeting was conducted explained to the parents about LOLT, its role and responsibility, its rules and regulation and also covered the topic such as roll and responsibility of parents and children.

On 20th May, 2017 at Worli centre of Light of Life Trust, a seminar on 'Knowledge about gender equality by guest faculty Ms. Urmila from Akshara NGO was conducted.

On 21th May, 2017 at Worli centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted 3rd meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents.

On 22nd May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 1st day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session started with the introduction and fun activities. In all 22 students attended the session on day 1.

On 23rd May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 2nd day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was organized on 'Hygiene and its benefits' followed by quiz session. In all 22 students attended the session on day 2.

On 24th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 3rd day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was 'Movie Viewing'. In all 22 students attended the session on day 3.

On 25th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 4th day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was conducted on TV & Newspaper - Group Discussion' and Balloon activities. In all 19 students attended the session on day 4.

On 26th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 5th day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was conducted on 'Nutrition and Exercise - a must for good health'. This session was taken by the visiting guest gym trainer Mr. Rajesh Thakur.

On 27th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 6th day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was conducted on creating 'Best out of Waste'. In all 24 students attended the session on day 6.

On 28th May, 2017 at village Bhendase first group meeting of Environment Conservation MaiTree Agriculture Plantation program was conducted. This was conducted by Mr. Sagar Kewari sir (Agriculture Assistant - LOLT).

On 28th May, 2017 at village Donewadi, 'Plantation Layout' activity was conducted with tribal farmers of Environment Conservation Program.

On 28th May, 2017 at village Donewadi, group meeting of Enviornment Conservation Program was conducted with 35 farmers and Agriculture Assistant, Mr. Mayur Mali sir.

On 28th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 7th day of the 'Summer Camp' and the session was conducted on Craft making. This session was conducted by resource person Mr. Rateesh M.

On 29th May, 2017 at all centres of Washim zone of Light of Life Trust, LOLT conducted first meeting with the newly enrolled children for Project Anando along with their parents.This meeting was conducted to explain the parents about LOLT, its role and responsibility, its rules and regulation and also covered the topic such as roll and responsibility of parents and children.

On 30th May, 2017 at Thane centre of Light of Life Trust, LOLT organized 8th day of the last 'Summer Camp'. This was a prize distribution ceremony and it also included fun and dance activity. In all on the last day 25 students participated for this event.

On 30th May, 2017 at Jeevan Asha Community Centre - Tiware, Karjat of Light of Life Trust, under project Jagruti a Summer Vacation camp was organised. In all 17 students participated in the programme.

On 30th May, 2017 at Jeevan Asha Community Centre - Tiware, Karjat of Light of Life Trust, under project Swapanpurti - Tailoring women group completed 72 shirts order which was given by Pinto Dress.

On 30th May, 2017 at Karjat. Light of Life Trust conducted an exposure visit to the government ITI, Karjat with SSC and HSC appeared students of Anando Plus program of LOLT who are interested to make their career in Technical field. In this visit Prof. Kakade (Head of Faculty) gave a motivational and guidance speech to the students and guided them how to make a career through ITI courses. Total 18 students participated for this event.

On 31st May 2017, Kokan Dnyanpeeth Engineering College - Karjat - Youth group donated 350 notebooks of 200 pages to Light of Life Trust for Education Material Distribution programme.
