Summary of each event

Online classes were taken by all teachers from classes 1st to 7th. SA-1 Answer papers were collected from parents and correction of papers was ongoing. Called parents for Minority scholarships. 5 new admissions to SIS were done.

Summary of each event: 

PutaniVignana prize distribution of 32 children from class I to VII Std participated in the exam. Children were encouraged to compete outside the school.


The dental check-up was conducted in SIS dining hall by the panel of doctors from Dr Ambedkar Hospital and created awareness to keep-up the oral health and hygiene for children as well as parents.


Interschool visit to Mariam Nivas School Children from both schools performed cultural activities and interacted with each other and shared the gifts. Helped children and encouraged to be more confident when they are challenged with unfamiliar environments.


Channapatna Gombe factory Visit  25 students of class II & III, 4 parents, 5 staffs, 2 bus staff and 1 support staff visited Shilpa craft factory, Channapatna. Students were made aware of one of the local speciality of Channapatna handmade craftwork 


Annual day All the children, parents, guest, staff from the school and APD actively participated.  Annual Day event provides an opportunity to showcase their various talents and interact with their teachers in a more informal manner.


Republic Day The program was arranged at the APD ground. Students of SIS all the staff accompanied by our principal. Students gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of how the Indian Constitution was drafted and sacrifices of freedom fighters and the role of the future generation.

 Visited Channapatna toy factory visit with 18 Students from 5 and 6 classes along with 3 staff and one support staff went to Channapatna toy factory Students learnt how to make toys by natured wood, dye and hard work.

  Math Inter-School Competition. 40 Children from eight different schools participated in the competition. Learning and teamwork were encouraged. Tested and developed knowledge about the subject.

 Exposure visit to the Planetarium  Students of Nursery, Preparatory along with 4 staff visited Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. Students were excited to watch the sun, moon, and planets and enjoyed the moment.

Science Exhibition  Children from each class explained many things about science into ITC students and APD Staffs. Developed a scientific spirit and curiosity in a student which in turn forces them to think and creatively find solutions to the challenges. Students enjoyed learning through exhibits and felt a sense of belongingness as they made the models with their own hands.

CFL Visit to visit the residential school with three teachers and 11 students.

 Majik of dyslexia seminar(interactive program) 6 Teachers attended the workshop at Deepika special school. It was focused on skills and techniques of inclusion and involvement of children with dyslexia into mainstream school system   Teachers was enabled to support the dyslexia students in reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic.

 International wheelchair day International wheelchair public the awareness program was held in Cubbon park 10 children, 10 parents and 1 teacher from SIS attended the program.

Represented our presence in the community and supported the program.


General Health Check-up General Health check-up was done for all the students from a doctor from Vinay Nursing Home. Suggestions and recommendation were given to the students.

 Krishna Trust 13 teachers visited the Krishna Trust, a Special School for  MR in Kengeri.   The Exposure visit offered to understand the various perspective of the special school for MR at a deeper level.

 Exposure Visit for teacher’s to Amara Seva Sangh, 13 Teachers, 5 Support staff visited Amara Seva Sangh,   The visit helped to interact with the teachers of Amar Seva Sangam. Learn and understand curriculum adaptation.

Founder’s day

Founder’s day was held at Balbhavan to commemorate the birth of an organization and its founder Ms. N. S. Hema.

 Annual Sports meet

The sports meet was held in Charles’s ground, Approximately 200 students with their parents participated in the customized and fun-filled track and also field events and drills. Prize distribution was held in APD Big ground. The sportive spirit was encouraged. Students realized the value of co-operation and team spirit.

 Teacher’s training

Counselor Gifty trained teachers on soft skills, self and classroom management and emotional intelligence.

 Lion’s club drawing competition

Lion’s club drawing competition was held in SIS Dining hall under the theme “PEACE”. 35 students participated. Children were engaged to develop creativity and open-ended thinking.


Parents capacity building by PT, OT and SLT

110 parents attended the training held in SIS dining hall. The therapists addressed the parents.

 CRE Training

Two teachers attended training in Davagere about Writing disorder. Types of Dysgraphia, fine motor skill and gross motor skill. How to improve in handwriting, spellings and reading. Diagnosis and assessment of writing disorder.

 CP Training.

Ms. Amala conducted the training on Cerebral Palsy for teachers. Definition of CP and its types. It was based on daily living. Therapy and mobility aids. She spoke about the communication techniques with CP Children which is Observe, Wait and Listen.

 Dance competition

All the houses red, blue, green and orange performed well. The theme was based on kannada Rajyothsava. The Orange house won first place, red house second place and blue house third place. Patriotism, house spirit, co-operation, teamwork, competitiveness was built through this activity.

 Makkala Samvada Karyagara

Two teachers along with five children attended the workshop conducted by Mobility India in association with KCRO and other organizations Ms. Lilavathi and Dr. Rohini Katoch Sepath, IPS were chief guests. Chief guests inspired the participants and in the next session, participants were briefed about parliament and the selection program. The workshop session was held after lunch, children were grouped and asked to prepare for presenting their problems and they were called to present group-wise. It was a good opportunity for our children to learn about parliament and also they learned to co-operate and compete outside the school.


Maths Putani exam

Students actively took part in the Putani exam from class I to VII. 55 students participated.

Math problems were solved by students the paper was thought-provoking and enabled the student to take up challenges in answering the paper.


Gardening in SIS garden

Nursery and preparatory children were allowed to sow seedlings like sunflower, marigold and enjoyed the activity. Children learned about seedlings and came to know how difficult to grow plants, Enhanced fine motor development and Introduced kids to scientific concepts.


Unnati Talent Exam.

Students took part in the talent exam from class III to VII. Totally 25 students participated. Conducted at SIS. Problem-solving, Increasing vocabulary, Identified and assisted individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. Career exploration and aptitude assessment are also enabling through this exam.


Chinthana Talent Exam.

Students took part in the talent exam from class IV to VII, Totally 25 students participated.

A timed, paper-and-pencil-based, reading, writing, and assessment that established a baseline measure of career readiness.


HAL Visit

Visited HAL Museum, 51 children, 5teachers, 2support staffs, along with the 4 parents went to HAL. 51 students and 5 staff visited the HAL Museum and observed the Jet, Helicopters and parts used in the Airplanes’ and photos from the year it started. The main outcome expected from this visit is to improve performance and relationships back at school. School trips also made a major contribution to the acquisition of knowledge and development of skills.


Children’s Day Celebration in SIS

Whole children from SIS gathered in the small ground. Teachers performed by various activities like Skit, Dance & Song. Children enjoyed very well and at last, they also joined the dance & we brought the entire wheelchair to the stage & we made them too to dance.


Visit JBN Garden Fair.

Garden Fair to JBN, plants, seeds and manures. 40 students visited the Garden Fair. Students enjoyed watching plants and flowers. Vegetables and medicinal plants were many, students identify few plants. Gardening created to respect and protection towards the environmental.


Kannada Rajyostava

All students gathered in the small ground to celebrate Rajyostava. Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated on 20th November in our school. The dance performance was given by Hearing Impaired children.

 Preparation of Pani Poori

Children accompanied teachers and enjoyed the activity of making The yummy dish call Pani Poori.

 To give the handbills to aware about the garden fair in JBN

2 teachers and 6 volunteers went to give handbills in the defense area and HAL II stage. It was a new experience to give the create awareness

 Rotary club Bangalore

Students gathered in the small ground for the activity from classes Nursery to VII. Volunteers organized activities like prayer, storytelling and mask making. Students had great fun.

 Model Exam

Model Exam for class VII. To prepare them for the final exam. The question paper was printed in a format suitable for every student. Students wrote the exams with volunteer help. To face the board exam without fear and to do with confidence was the main focus of these exams.

 Visit HAL Museum

52 children, 3 teachers, 3 support staffs and two drivers went to HAL.

Children enjoyed the day; they were watching curiously all the models and they watched a short movie there related to HAL.

 IDPD Sports Day

Conducted in the Kanteerava stadium. Various NGO’s took part. 40 students took part actively in running race, slow walk, wheelchair race, shot put and march fast. 11 students won in the events. Developed Self-Esteem. Leadership Skills. Teamwork. Stronger Relationships developed in this event.

 IDPD Day Cultural (Dance) Event

On the 28th of November 2019, a Cultural (Dance) event was conducted at Balbavan. 10 Hearing Impaired students participated in this event from class 1st, 4th,5th, 7th standard. 10 of Hearing Impaired children gave a performance. They were Better Communicators. During rehearsals learned to respect. Each other and Time Management.

 IDPD Day Drawing Event

On the 29th of November 2019, a Drawing event was conducted at Balbavan. 25 students participated in this event from class 1st to 7th standard. Transport was arranged by SIS.

 Foil paper activity by Zainab team

Mrs.Zainab (volunteer), and made the children color in the foil paper and pasted them. Help manipulate art materials and develop they are fine motor skills.

 Capacity building for parents of CP children

Parents of all Cerebral Palsy children were given training on handling their children with special needs. 15 parents were given training and they interacted with their counterparts. Related question and doubts on handling their ward were answered by the resource person.

Ms. Mrigya from Tata edge conducted the training for teachers in class VI 9 teachers attended the training. The practical session allowed teachers to practice and learn new updates on the usage of the smart board and Tata classes.

 Volunteers from Northern trust

Volunteers from northern trust conducted greeting card-making activity for Class I, Quiz and debate competition for V, VI, VII Students. Students of class I actively participated to create beautiful cards with the help of volunteers and teachers. This, in turn, helped to enhance their creative ability and confidence. Volunteers also conducted the quiz and debate competition. Students were enabled to discover and develop skills like confidence, curiosity, critical thinking, communication and creativity.

 Exposure visit to Visveshwaraiah Museum

30 children from class I with two teachers and one support staff and few parents visited the museum. It was a knowledge gaining visit for All students, teachers and parents. Children observed various working mechanisms of machines. The most interesting and enjoyable part of the museum was the sensory music.

 Sign Language Training for Parents and Hearing Impaired children

SIS Nursery and preparatory class students participated in fancy dress competition. Students were happy to show up in their favorite roles. Helped to find their inner passion. And the understanding of the children about the different works like police, doctor etc.

 National Conference On Inclusive Education

APD, Brotherhood and NIEPMD collaborated National Conference On Inclusive Education at Untied Theological College, Benson Town. 3 teachers attended the program. Helped us to update with current happenings related to inclusive education. Workshops on assessment and curriculum, the importance of early intervention, School Environment and personal safety was helpful to add to the knowledge pool of teachers.

 Celebration of World differently-abled day in Preeti Nivas Trust.

30 children from class I to Class V, 2 teachers and few parents participated in the celebration of the differently abled day arranged by Preeti Nivas trust. The program started with prayer and was followed by various cultural programs from different trusts and NGO’s. SIS children performed a dance. Students had an opportunity to exhibit their talent and were helpful for developing a community network.

 Nakshatra specials-Bhumi’s Annual talent festival for specially-abled.

Various competitions like Painting, Dance, Song, Mehandi, Rangoli were organized for the Disabled Children's/Adults. 25 students participated in this program from class 1st to 7th Breakfast and Lunch and Transport also was provided.3 teacher and 2 support staff accompanied the children. Students had an opportunity to exhibit their talent. Skills such as group interaction. Participation. Facing challenges during the events was strengthened.

 Exposure visit to Cubbon Park

Nursery children were taken to Cubbon park. Children were delighted with the freedom to play. Joy rides Made them fee wanted. The greenery and the ambiance enabled children to relax.

 Mysore Trip

15 students of class VII 9 teachers, 2 support staff and 6 parents went to Mysore for a one day trip. Visited Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden, Mysore Palace, and Church. It was a final year trip for class VII helped students to socialize with teachers outside the school environment. To expose them to a new culture of locals and to give the experience to connect education with the real world. The zoological park was much of learning and understanding the need to conserve natural resources.

 State Level cultural activity competition for Deaf Children's/Aduby Karnataka State Federation of Deaf (R) Banglore State Level cultural activity competition for Deaf Children's/Adult by Karnataka state federation of the deaf (R) Banglore was held at Rangoli metro art center. Painting competition and cultural activities like dance and mime were organized on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 15th December 2019 (Sunday) from 9:00 Am to 5:00 PM. 15 students participated in this program from class 1st to 7th standard accompanied by 2 teachers

 Exposure Visit to dairy day Ice Cream Factory

50 Students, 5 teachers, 2 supportive staff and2 parents visited the Dairy Day Ice Cream Factory at the Harohalli Industrial Area, Kanakapura. Students were exposed to factory environments & helped them to learn outside the classroom with exposure to real-world connections. Students were amused to see the organized way of operations at the factory. Careers for PWD in these areas were thought-provoking.

Project Name: Educate 200 Children with Disabilities in Bangalore

Summary of each event:

Sincere thanks to Global Giving for supporting APD’s Shradhanjali Integrated School. One of the major purposes of SIS is to promote Inclusive Education and this model is much needed to sensitize the mainstream schools to accept the Inclusive Education system. Through your long term support, we have been able to achieve the desired results and provide education to children with disabilities. 

In the academic year 2019-20, we have a total of 205 students in school. We are working towards improving the quality of education by enhancing the skills of our teachers, innovative teaching practices, digital teaching and computer lab, incorporating alternative communication and teaching for children with Cerebral Palsy.  For Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) we follow methods like Formative assessment (FA) and Summative Assessment (SA) to assess the student’s level of learning. Overall 163 children have been rehabilitated like speech therapy, sign language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. SIS is a resource center, shares knowledge, and skills among model school teachers and the partner staff.

Cleanest classroom trophy

The cleanest classroom trophy was handed to 1st std students. Children were encouraged to maintain cleanliness in the classroom.

Student Council Election

Contestants for Student council elections were announced in the assembly. Then contestants campaigned in classrooms and finally voting was done on 10/07/2019 at the computer lab. Results were announced on 18/07/2019. Students were encouraged to be leaders. Students were explained about their role and they were happy to take up the responsibility.

Exposure Visit Cubbon park       

Nursery and special class children were taken to Cubbon park along with two teachers, one support staff and four parents. Children learned on unity, enjoyed nature, greenery, involved in games and activities conducted by teachers.

Wheelchair tennis workshop for children.

Four of our students and three of the old students took part actively. Two coaches conducted the workshop at Shree Datta Sports Academy. New Tennis wheelchairs were used by our students for practice. As sports helps in developing great interpersonal skills our children are happy to have this opportunity. Four students are taking part in practice every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday along with the teacher.

Party with Special Class on successful completion of 1 month   

We celebrated the successful completion of one month through conducting Games and Activities like

1.The ball into the bucket

2. Musical chair

3. Blasting the balloon

4. Sandwich making       

All the children and parents enjoyed the party, sharing, caring, and responsibilities.

Eye checkup      

All Students Eye checkup was done by the staff of the Zamindar microsurgical eye Centre. Recommendations were given to the needy students.

House wise singing competition             

House wise singing competition was held at the dining hall. One singing group for each house was formed by the house teachers and the theme was patriotic songs. The red house won the first prize. Team spirit and patriotism were nurtured in the children.

Training by volunteers from Ireland for our staff

General emotional skills to handle kids were presented effectively through the actin first session. The second session was focused on phonics the five key skills. Learning letters formation. Blending and tricky words. Inspirational sessions motivated teachers to practice creative and activity-based teaching.

Exposure visit – I & II    

Grade I & II were taken for a day outing to Orion East Mall. Children learned the trading, marketing, discount and maintenance of commodities; they also enjoyed the games and other activities at the mall.

Exposure visit III, IV, V, VI, and VII

4 Teachers and 5th, 6th, 7th standard children had been to Bangalore palace. With all the exuberance and richness children were amazed to witness the historical palace. Garments, utensils, photographs and the grandeur of the royal surrounding left the children amazed.

Orthopedic Camp for the students.

Students from all the classes participated in this camp. Two orthopedic doctors from Sanjay Gandhi Hospital came and examined the children and prescribed the surgical and therapeutically needs and also suggestions were given to the parents on the specific needs of CWSN.                Parents were briefed on their wards ailment disability and prescribed surgeries. Treatment and follow up. However financial constraints to the parents below the poverty line this is one of the greatest challenges to be faced.

Poem Recitation Competition. 

As a literary competition. Students recited poems in English, Kannada, and Hindi. Team spirit and creativity were nurtured. The red house won 1st prize, greenhouse won 2nd prize. The poetic minds and imaginative thoughts rolled out of each child’s heart and mind.

Rangoli Competition.   

Students drew rangoli an allotted place. The theme of the competition was “Independence day” Students participated actively. Team spirit, creativity, and patriotism were nurtured. Students were judged based on the set criteria. The red house won 1st prize, Blue House won 2nd prize.

Independence Day        

School choir sang patriot songs under the guidance and instructions of our vocalist teacher.   We celebrated Independence day with patriotic spirit. Our leaders spoke about the importance of independence and our responsibility towards it. Grade VII student was trained by our teacher to speak about the freedom fighter Bhagath sigh. This brought out the public speaking skill in the student and encouraged many others to admire.

Teacher’s day   

As teachers are known to shape the mind of youth, and without knowledge no one can exist in this world. The teacher imparts good value in children and turns them into responsible citizens. So, our children had a teacher's day celebration as a gratitude to their teachers. Students took turn to plan and carry out the event to entertain the teachers.

 The principal recognized and honored teachers and volunteers for their service to children.        Organizational, networking, Resilience and Adaptability, Unbridled Creativity, attitude of gratitude was nurtured. Children came up with great gratitude cards, carried out the event with fun games planned instantly for teachers.

Science Talent Exam 

As competitive exams are like a positive push for students towards their excellence. Children were facilitated to write the Putani vignana science talent exam with the guidance of two teachers in the dining hall. Students were motivated to endeavor for better and deeper understanding of subject and compete outside the school.

International Literacy day          

As the aim of International literacy day is to promote the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. Facts about the literacy were discussed in the assembly. Posters on literacy, proverbs, and poems were shared in the assembly and also students conveyed the world oneness through the literacy message by holding the flags of different countries and the poster.Active learning was nurtured in the students to establish a meaningful connection with the world.

Created awareness about literacy, students learned about literacy and the importance of it.

Hindi Divas        

Hindi Divas was held in small ground to commemorate the adoption of Hindi as an official language of India. Students performed assembly in Hindi. Importance and the reason for the Hindi divas were explained by the Hindi teacher. Children were connected with language to make their learning more meaningful. And are aware of the day and the facts about it.

ABA Workshop

Our certified and experienced trainer in Applied Behavioral Analysis) ABA conducted the workshop for all the teachers about ABA. She discussed the principles of ABA and the methodology. It enabled teachers to handle the student’s behavior which is a day to day challenge through this effective/organized method.

International day of sign language         

The international day of sign language was held in the dining hall. A teacher shared about the importance of deaf day, song mime, dances were performed by hearing-impaired children and a movie about Helen Keller was shown to encourage students and parents. Parents shared their experiences with the child and how school facilitated them. Each child received a small gift as a remembrance of this day. And then the event ended with national anthem depicted through sign language.                Awareness about the facts around the international day of sign language was created.

A platform for hearing impaired children encourage, involve and develop was created.

Parents and teachers capacity building on Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physio Therapy              

Workshop on importance of eye-hand coordination and behavioral issues was conducted. It. enabled the teachers and parents with few activities that they can encourage the child to do to improve their handwriting, hand function and the co-ordination with eye. Similarly, capacity was built on importance of hearing aids, their design and maintenance. Parents and teachers were taught anout the use of hearing aid and its maintenance eachers. They were also taught about the maintenance of a wheelchair. Briefed about how to use the wheelchair, its mechanism, designs, and types..

Fireless cooking              

The class-wise fireless cooking event was held in the small ground. Students enjoyed cooking, displaying and learning about nutrition. Cooking with children in school helps to teach nutrition education such as planning meals and make smarter food choices.

Dental, Eye and General checkup camp by Rajiv Gandhi              

Dental, eye and general checkup camps were held in the dining hall by Rajiv Gandhi. All the students participated in it and the prescribed further treatment for necessary cases.   To recognize and manage basic health problems of school children.

Craft from waste material                          

Children were thought to reuse and understand the benefits of recycling. Recycling saves the planet, saves the environment and was nurtured skill development and creativity through the process.
