For these 20 talented girls in Kenya, education is their only ticket out of poverty -- yet their families cannot afford to send them past the 8th grade in school. Uneducated Kenyan girls are vulnerable to child marriage, early motherhood, poor health, and a life of continued poverty. Help these smart, aspiring girls stay in school by supporting EFAC today. They are the future of Kenya, and a beacon of hope for their families and entire communities. Together we can transform their lives!
Africa is the fastest growing continent in the world and over 60% of the population is under the age of 25. This cohort of youth can be Africa's greatest asset or greatest liability -- the linchpin is education. EFAC believes in the potential of young Africans to change the trajectory of their continent. In Kenya, where only 11% of poor children will finish high school, we are bridging the education gap for hundreds of talented youth. One child at a time, we can transform a nation.
EFAC addresses the problem by providing 8 years of scholarships, mentoring, and career development from high school through college to extremely bright, impoverished young Kenyans. Two-thirds of our scholars are girls. They are becoming engineers, doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs and business leaders. They are the pride of their families and their communities, and the future of their country.
Since 2008, EFAC has educated over 600 Kenyan youth with the brightest minds and the fewest resources. This year, 100% of our high school graduates qualified for college, compared to 30% nationwide. One year after finishing school, 80% of our college graduates have a job or internship. Nearly 50% of graduates are paying school fees for siblings or relatives. This program is having a ripple effect on families and communities all over Kenya. One child at a time, we are transforming a nation.
