Each month I share a special story of significance at the CW school for girls. This school year will end on December 19, 2014, but right now there is growing excitement for the Graduation of our Second class of students from our new school. Plans are being made for the celebration and siblings, parents and friends are all invited to witness the achievements of their daughters. This event in itself has a ripple effect on siblings, cousins, neighbors and the community who will look upon our new graduates with curiosity and growing awareness as they enter high school. All know that these girls are going to do well in life.
The little girls in this picture are just beginning to learn at CW school and they too will do well...their stories will come next year.
GivingTuesday is December 2
NOW is the START of our annual fundraising campaign for the upcoming year. Our main focus is on the our basic operating budget of $130,000. But the school needs a few things we have not mentioned, but should now. Our new school was nearly complete in 2012 and we desperately needed the additional classrooms, so we opened for that school year with 5 grades. Today, it is 2 years later and fortunately all has been well, but we do need to finish up some of the unfinished construction and small projects that we put on hold when the exchange rate dipped.
The 2015 projects that need completion or implementation as soon as possible
•Safety hand rails lining concrete stairs and sharp patio drop off areas. $4,000.
•Animal cages to raise and contain sheep and guinea pigs to increase meal protein.$2000.
•Designated art area implemented with tables and material for class projects and stipend for volunteer art teachers. $3,820
•Resume Dental care for all students initiated in 2012 and on hold 2013 & 2014. Doing basic dental exams now to determine the amount of work needed & to get Quote for 2015.
•Professionally repaint School building and do deferred maintenance. $8,550.
•Construct a Greenhouse to grow food for the school kitchen in the frigid season.$3570
•Sturdy safe school playground equipment for the students....$2,000
•Additional school van to transport students safely over terrible muddy roads..$50,000.
To complete these projects and programs we will chip away at them as funds allow.
I promised to keep you abreast of our accomplishments and current needs.
The school construction was completed in 2013 but the above list was left incomplete.
The hand rails are urgent with the heavy rains that make the cement slippery and dangerous and an additional Van is urgent as we are beating up our current Van with overuse on bad roads.
