Covid 19 caused children to be out of school for one year.
Later own the schools were opened in November and we had to have the children come to school at different sessions so as to observe Covid 19 protocols especially in social spacing.
So some children came in the morning hours 8am-11:30am. While the second session came in at 12:00am to 15:00pm.
While some of this children came to school others had been locked down upcountry and so could not come to school. They were not able to access any learning materials and so when the lock down was lifted and the kids had to come back to school we had a big problem most of them had forgotten what they had been taught before the covid19.
The academic calender has changed to one week holiday every term. We now have four terms in a year instead of three terms. This is to help has to recover the lost term during Covid.
In order to maintain the covid protocols we need to have water, masks, sanitizers and liquid soap at school which is too expensive.
We need more extra cost on preparing the worksheets since we have to photocopy the work for the children to take home.
We had learners read to the teachers on one to one on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Many parents lost their jobs and so we have had to subsidise the food basket to feed the children.
Solutions to cater for the learners during Covid 19.
Home based and Telephone therapy for the learners with disability.
Teachers giving assignments through the whatsapp especially to parents who can afford data bundles.
Naturing Talent through
Music we had 25 children involved.
Dancing we had 20 children involved.
Football we had 20 children involved.
