Children are cutting cloth for handmade masks.
Children are cutting cloth for handmade masks.

In Taiwan, we have two residential children's homes, Mustard Seed Youth Home in Hualien and Agape Children's Home in New Taipei City.

Since the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has spread worldwide. 26 children in Agape Children’s Home which is located near the capital and the international airport made cloth masks by themselves to fight the disease!

Using non-woven fabrics as filter materials and carefully wash the cloth mask every day, it is efficient for epidemic prevention.

The children said they will use medical masks for some particular purpose such as going to the hospital. For normal days, they would like to put on the handmade cloth masks for daily protection and they hope the way could save more surgical masks for the medical groups, the first line epidemic prevention workers, and weaker people.

Besides, the handmade cloth masks will also be sent as gifts to disadvantaged families and the elderly who The Mustard Seed Mission serves in order to maximize the epidemic prevention cover areas to the vulnerable groups.

We hope everyone could be covered in the epidemic prevention network!

Nurturing with Love!

From winter vacation, Mustard Seed Youth Home encourage youths to grow crops on their own on the field in Youth Home!

One day, teachers took children to visit a farmer. The farmer took them to pick sweet potato and also helped them to get 4 banana seeds from a banana farmer next to him! Thus, children are able to grow banana in the Youth Home! Children are grateful to it!

Teachers try many ways to find resources and experts to develop the agriculture project! So during the process of getting banana seeds, children also experienced the sweet potato picking! In the project, children have learned the knowledge and techniques of agriculture, and also know it requires love, patience, and teamwork.

Children have more understanding of life and know they need to treasure themselves and other lives more. Learning by doing is how Mustard Seed Youth Home guides children! We hope children can understand the meaning of life-growing through this project!

Nurturing with Love! Support Children THIS WEEK!

fix windons

"We made it!" kids said.

Children in the Mustard Seed Youth Home tried to fix windows and install a shelf themselves in their house!

Things they thought they couldn't make it, after teacher's guide and help, they did it!

Children in the Youth Home need to live alone and take care of themselves after leaving Youth Home. So, teacher need to teach them how to deal with things in daily life as possible as they can!

Every time, when children achieve one goal, they get more self-confidence!

Thank You for Supporting and Together Let us Povide more chances to these kids in order to let them get more abilities to face the future!

Wayne challenged himself in the camp!
Wayne challenged himself in the camp!

Happy New Year!

It is very cold recently.

Please keep yourselves warm!

We hope you are well in this WINTER!

God bless you and your family!

-----

This summer, the Mustard Seed Mission contucted a chellenage camp for 60 children in Taina. In the camp, we provided many activities to children such as field games, tournaments, drama time, small group time, and chellenage games. We hope children’s self-awareness and self-affirmation can be developed through group activities and supportive group and enviornment.

Wayne is raised by his grandfather, his grandfather runs a small and old hostel but doesn’t make lots money. Wayne’s cousin also lives with Wayne and grandfather.

Wayne is a strong boy. He doesn’t show many emotions on his face. He always let people feel he is not a friendly child. In fact, Wayne is a nice boy, he usually helps his grandfather to run the hostel.

Wayne is also good at observation. When he went to Mustard Seed camp, he was the one who always helped team leaders and played a good role in team to warm up the atmosphere. In the camp, he tried to challenge himself to play main role in a drama. In a clown performance event, he was willing to go up on the stage to interact with clown.

In the camp, Wayne has learned to express his moods. Sometimes smile, sometimes laugh out louder, sometimes he was serious while doing tasks. He seems to accept himself more through the camp. It is really a breakthrough to Wayne.
