Cash Crops Recovery: Income Generating Project

By Datu Lanelio Sangcoan | Chairman

This project is urgent; on one level for the Higa-onon indigenous people, and on a second level for the critical action we must all take to tackle climate change. The challenges faced by the Higa-onon indigenous people exist throughout the world in similarly disadvantaged, impoverished, proud but neglected and disrespected people and in their natural homelands which have been abused by unethical Corporates, and others who equally are driven by greed, profit and power, not by the importance of protecting these lands, these communities, these people, their cultures, their traditions, their indigenous knowledges and the planet their (and our) forefathers entrusted to us.

This Project is focused on the Clans and Communities of Rogongon Iligan City  and most specifically almost 10,000 who are directly affected by the series of natural calamities like  earthquake and typhoons.  The urgent needs for these communities are the following:

  • Recover the devastated farms ruined by the calamities.
  • Provide immediate cash crops income generating project and sustainable food security for the impoverished people who live in these forgotten forests hit by the series of natural disasters.
  • Establish new areas of indigenous crops and plantations,
  • Grow and harvest crops which provide sustainable income and livelihoods.
  • Reposition pride, opportunity, and optimism within their communities.
  • Uplift lives, incomes, and well-being – for all ages and community members
  • Establish viable new enterprise  and business.

In the name of the devastated communities of indigenous peoples, Tribes and Natures Defenders would like to extend our gratitude to the kind donors who always supported our efforts to save the communities and mother earth. We are forever grateful, your support and donations made a big difference.
