The overarching goals of this project are:
- Providing technical training to 125 women and girls on establishing small-scale businesses and IGA activities. - Strengthening socio-economic resilience and economic empowerment through gender-sensitive livelihood initiatives and IGA. - Providing each woman and girl with a simple dignity kit for her monthly hygiene. - Providing each woman an and girl with small financial support to improve her socio-economic situation through IGA. - Capacity development and coaching.
Challenge:
According to UN News, more than 600,000 people displaced by 30 November 2024 in North Kivu province, DRC. Many others fled two years ago and are currently living in IDPs' sites near Goma. Their life is really critical that it increases poverty, malnutrition, lack of education for children, sexual gender-based violence, etc. This project comes to respond to social and economic situation of 125 women and girls in five selected sites.
Solution
As solution, we would like to see 125 women and girls will receive $100 each for Income-Generating Activity (IGA). The Blessed Aid's staff members will also coach them for one year as party of the planned activities of the project. Since the IDPs sites no longer exist in Goma, the beneficiaries of this project will be selected in the villages around Goma like in Sake, Kirotshe, Shasha, Kituva, etc. in Masisi territory. The priority will be given to those women and girls who were members of the Village Savings and Loans Association program (VSLA) which were supported two years ago by Blessed Aid at Shasha and Kirotshe villages in Masisi territory.
Long-term impact
This project will address the socio-economic situation of 125 women and girls who are directly impacted by the war between the FARDC and the M23 rebels and who were in the displaced sites of Rego, Lwashi, 8th CEPAC, Lushagala, Buhimba and Bulengo but have already returned in their respective villages in Masisi territory. The project will help them rise out of poverty, malnutrition, education and provide good healthcare to their children. All the 125 women and girls as well as their families will improve their socio-economic situation through Income-Generating Activities.
Message of gratitude to Donors
This is a good opportunity to express once again our gratitude to all the people who have already Donated to the project " Economic Resilience for 125 Women and Girls in DRC". What you did shows how much you strongly care about the different women and girls directly affected by the wars in eastern DR Congo. May our almighty God bless you a lot.
As the project is still online, I would like to call upon the Generosity of other people in the world to also think of DONATING to this project and ensure everyone that all your Donations will help save life of many women and girls as well as their family members in Democratic Republic of Congo.
