Years of conflict in Eastern DR Congo have forced thousands of women like Amina to lose their homes, businesses, and livelihoods. Many now struggle to feed their children, pay school fees, or access healthcare. Without income or financial skills, families remain trapped in poverty and dependence on emergency aid. Women need practical opportunities to rebuild dignified, sustainable livelihoods not temporary assistance
This project will equip 500 vulnerable women in Eastern DR Congo with vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, and ongoing business mentoring. Each participant will join a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) and receive a start-up grant to launch or expand a small business. With practical skills, savings, and income, women can provide for their families and build long-term financial resilience.
Five hundred women will become confident entrepreneurs capable of generating stable incomes for more than 2,500 family members. Their businesses will create local jobs, strengthen community markets, increase children's school attendance, improve household nutrition, and reduce dependence on humanitarian aid. As women reinvest in their families and communities, they help build a more resilient and peaceful future across Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
