This project will build an inclusive library for people with disabilities using Eco bricks in Mtunthama Kasungu district.The library will provide library facilities and books that can be accessed by people with different types disabilities.

Challenge

Kasungu district has has more than 4000 people living with some form of disability, despite the huge number of people there is only one library and it is not inclusive to people with disabilities. Mtunthama is one of the biggest village in the district but has no library service. This project will provide library services to the Mtunthama community which is specially build to give access to and accommodate people with all kinds of disabilities

Solution

The disability friendly library will provide the entire community including people with disabilities access to reading materials, computer services and the internet thereby increasing access to information and communication as well as promoting education and literacy in the community.The project will also have a positive impact on the environment as it will use Eco-bricks made from plastic wastes.

Long-Term Impact

The project will promote the progress of knowledge and improve literacy levels to the members of Mtunthama village.
