For more than 40 years, Action Against Hunger has led emergency nutrition programs providing lifesaving milks, foods and medicines to those suffering from malnutrition. Right now, 29 million people face the threat of hunger in the Horn of Africa. Our programs save lives but we need more resources to reach more people. Our emergency nutrition program has a cure rate of over 90% and $.91 cents of every dollar goes directly to our programs. Please help us reach more of those in need.
Nearly 29 million people in the Horn of Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia) currently face the threat of hunger including more than 7 million children. The region has been impacted by an unprecedented four consecutive failed rainy seasons destroying crops and driving up commodity prices. This is on top of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, rising inflation and supply chain disruptions caused by the conflict in Ukraine. Without immediate assistance, many will suffer.
Action Against Hunger provides those suffering from severe malnutrition with lifesaving foods and commodities. We have a 90%+ cure rate for those we can reach. Last year, our Nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), Livelihoods and Emergency Response programs brought critical aid and support to more than 26 million people. Our current disaster response in the Horn of Africa will provide lifesaving foods and medicines, potable water, livestock feed, and access to medicine.
We can save lives now while also providing support for long-term livelihoods programming that can make communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change while developing local economies. We provide direct cash transfer, skill trainings, seeds and other inputs necessary to start and develop small-holder farms and small businesses.
