On the night of September 8, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the High Atlas region where all our boarding houses are located. There has been significant damage to all of our houses. We are now trying to get updates from the girls who were back in their villages. In addition to repairing our houses, we anticipate emergency and longer-term support for the girls and their families. Any help you can give at this time will be gratefully received.
A magnitude 6.8 earthquake has devastated the High Atlas region of Morocco. This is the area where Education For All run boarding houses so that teenage girls who live in remote areas can access the local schools and receive resources and support. All our boarding houses have been severely damaged by the earthquake and will need emergency repair work. We will also need to replace damaged furniture, computers etc.
This project will raise funds for the emergency repairs of the 6 houses and replacement of their contents. We also anticipate emergency support such as food, medicine, water and communications support for the girls and their families/local communities. All donations will go towards the short-term and long-term projects needed to rebuild the houses and the local communities where the girls are from.
The long-term impact will be restoring the houses so we can continue to fulfil our mission to get teenage girls into education and to support the girls and their families with emergency support to navigate the devastating impact on their daily lives.
