EFA focuses on girls from rural, remote areas of Morocco's who are missing out on secondary education due to living too remote and transportation to larger villages with more public facilities is restrictive due to being too far, difficult terrain wise and too expensive. Many small rural villages in Morocco might have a small primary school but not secondary. Which means for many girls education stops at 12 years old. This leads to high levels of illiteracy among girls and women up to 70%. As a result, they often end up in early marriages, lacking essential skills to cope with life challenges. This perpetuates poverty within their communities and hinders their ability to contribute to society. We want to empower marginalised Moroccan girls to break this cycle and fulfil their potential! We work with our existing and new partners in the rural areas in Morocco to empower marginalised Moroccan girls by providing access to education as well as educational and extra curricular support. We raise funds to support the running of these operations and the short- & long-term recovery of damaged operations post Earthquake. Long-Term Impact Educated girls break the cycle of poverty. An educated girl tends to marry at a later age and has higher earning power that allows her to provide for her family, contribute to the global economy and elevate her community. The girls are able to lead healthier, more productive lives and have more control and power so reducing gender inequality. They have also inspired a positive shift in attitudes in their communities towards education and are strong role models to their sisters and friends, demonstrating what is possible for them and how to realise their potential through education. We have been educating girls in rural Morocco for 17 years and need your help to continue doing this! Contact us for more information. info@efamorocco.org
