Inspiring young learners is a key part of our mission at Ba Futuru. We do this through our preschool programming and through our Quality Education project which transforms the way teachers engage with students in the classroom.

This year in our preschool we are serving 18 low income Timorese children that are receiving a free education due to your generosity!

During the first couple months of 2017 we have had many new kids join our program. Thus our strategy was to find out more about the children in our facility, get to know them, and what skills they have already developed, helping us to get a clear idea of how we should focus their educational experiences going forward.

We plan fun and engaging activities that are in accordance with the desired progress for each age and tailor them to each student's capacity. We focus on developing the social skills of the child, which specifically helps with their competencies in the areas of sharing, relationship building, empathy, respect for others, following rules, etc.

We also had a fantastic Valentines Day party to start the new school year and to welcome new children, teachers, and parents.

Help us to continue supporting these wonderful young Timorese so that they can have a bright future!

With your support this year Ba Futuru's Early Childhood Facility was able to provide 16 low-income children with a free high-quality preschool education through an enriching and stimulating learning environment. Assisting children in early childhood, the most important stage of development for brain growth, builds the foundation for their success in life.

Thank you for helping us to transform the lives of these children!

This holiday season are you seeking to give an ethical gift that creates positive change in Timor-Leste in 2017 and beyond?

This Christmas, you can give the gift of empowerment to a Timorese child, by purchasing a Gift Certificate for your colleagues, family and friends.

Wishing you joy!

Warmest regards,

Preschool began again last week!

Thanks to Ba Futuru's supporters we now have increased our enrollment, and we have 15 low-income children attending our Early Childhood Facility free of charge (up from 10 last school year).

The boost to these children's education and development at this early stage, will reap benefits for them, their families and their communities into the future. Research shows that early childhood education has long-lasting positive effects on children’s all-round development, performance in school, relationships with others, and productivity well into adult life.

Moreover, this school year we are welcoming Bruno Torres to Ba Futuru’s Preschool and After School Program as our international teacher and facility manager. Bruno has a Masters Degree in teaching with a focus on physical education. He specializes in motor skill and physical development and creating new challenges for kids through sport. Bruno has extensive experience working and living in Timor-Leste over the last three years, and we believe Bruno will make a great asset to our team of teachers at Ba Futuru.

Please continue to support the children at Ba Futuru's preschool, and our work to prevent violence and increase positive educational outcomes across Timor-Leste!

CONGRATULATIONS - You've helped to provide quality education to more than 30 children this last year, 10 of which have been able to attend for free due to your support.

The school year is ending and children are graduating from preschool with amazing new social and emotional skills, and they have developed the foundation for success in school and in life!

We have many additional low income kids from our community that would like to attend, please help make this possible with a donation today!

Paid spots in our summer camp bring in the majority of funds for low income children to attend our preschool, however this year registration is not as high as in past years, so now we need your help more than ever to bring education to children in one of the most impoverished countries in the world.

SURPRISE – your donation can be matched!

Give on June 15 EDT 9 am onwards and Ba Futuru will receive bonus support from GlobalGiving.

Don't pass up this opportunity to help children succeed in life!

Thank you!

It is nearing the end of our first term of 2016 at our early childhood facility, which is a great time to see the progress the preschool children are making. Children are progressing quickly with writing, drawing, story-telling, singing and counting activities because they have experienced, responsive teachers and a stimulating play-based environment.

We have had a lot of interest in our preschool this year and we have served 35 children this term.

We have a fantastic new teacher, Brigida Soares, that comes with experience in teaching preschool as well as work experience and an academic background as a physiologist. She is Portuguese which means kids can learn more Portuguese language skills helping them to become even more successful going on to further education.

Your support means we can accept more child from families who see education as the answer to alleviating poverty.

Please donate again soon!

More than 10 low-income Timorese children are attending our facility for free due to your support, thank you!

Also, Ba Futuru is in the midst of starting a few new parenting and teacher training programs, focused on helping schools to deliver quality education and parents to support children's safety, development and learning. Please see our website for more information about our important work.
