The Nation of Makers Conference last week brought together policy makers, leaders of businesses and makerspaces, During the conference I led two workgroup sessions for people who shared our interests, values, and needed for this project. We stood out as a group creating a real solution that the groups can share. I’m so pleased that some of the members have already given personally as a sign of support.
This project addresses several topics discussed:
Meritocracy and equity issues in MakerSpaces
Using open recognitions and blockchain to defend open source licenses, recognize people who are sharing designs and developing workforce skills
Helping makers and organizations be sustainable using the skills they get during service learning
Using open recognitions to credential volunteers and as a way to help identify needs and put solutions in place before emergencies occur
Storytelling as qualitative research and a currency of trust; building community and sharing painpoints as collaborative research. Asserting dignity in commitment not to waste people’s pain.
Thank you to everyone who helped us take advantage of matching funds this week!
Thank you to everyone who is helping to spread the word and encouraging giving during this campaign. You are such an important part of our community!
Thank you to everyone who is helping fund creation of devices and access to technology! You are not only giving people arms and hands. You are giving people the chance to learn skills and work with mentors for free in the service of others. You are helping us all rewrite our stars.
