By Vu Xuan Thai | Program Office

"Voluntary culture - Sharing culture" seminar
"Voluntary culture - Sharing culture" seminar

As mentioned in a previous report, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, citizens kept social distancing so all project activities were temporarily delayed. Only until May 2020 did students come back to school as normal. Therefore, in June 2020, we conducted the following activities:

1. “Voluntary culture – Sharing culture” seminar

The “Voluntary culture – Sharing culture” seminar was held on June 14th, 2020. The seminar aimed to provoke multifaceted perspectives in students about “giving and taking”; and inspire them to construct a passionate young generation who are willing to dedicate to society.

Young students learned about two kinds of popular volunteering forms which are: 1) Charity – a popular model in Vietnam that is conducted to tackle immediate difficulties and meet current needs like food, water and health expenses. 2) Philanthropy – a long-term investment direction that focuses on solving root causes of problems, and empowering the inner forces of individuals and communities, thus contributing to changing their lives sustainably. This process requires strategic investment of time, effort and passion.

In the seminar, students had the opportunity to meet PhD. Dang Hoang Giang, and MA. Nguyen Phuong Linh who are professionals in the field of economic development and social activities. Our professionals brought realistic stories to young students about charitable activities in Vietnam.

2. “Complete to succeed” training course

In order to help students acquire soft skills, enhance learning abilities and work effectively, Student Support Initiative – DynaGen Initiative held its 6th Training with the topic named “Complete to Succeed” on June 27th, 2020 and it was taught by coach Nina Nguyen Yen Nhan – Chairwoman of ActionCoach IBC.

Together, all DynaGeners got familiar with the golden rules of time management and methods of effective time utilization. This is regarded as one of the crucial factors in each person’s way to success. Moreover, students practiced building plans and learned to manage their personal plans.

“After this seminar, I gained a lot of interesting and beneficial knowledge on how to manage time and put more determination in listed goals. Many thanks to DynaGen Initiative for having held this meaningful training and to Ms Nina Nguyen Yen Nhan for having been so enthusiastic and passionate in giving us bigger motivation to study and work in later years,” D.T.H.H – Banking Academy student shared in excitement.

3. Office Tour program

On July 1st, 2020, VSF held an Office Tour for DynaGen students at Navigos Group. This is a leading group in providing recruitment services in Vietnam, owning two well-known names, Navigos Search and Vietnamworks.com.

Throughout the program, students all felt interested in a friendly, cozy, yet professional and modern working environment at Navigos Group. Students also got to know more about their operational activities, business culture, labor policies, as well as career opportunities for students.

4. Other activities of DynaGen students

  • Participating in the Opening seminar of the “Youth for environment” project.

On May 27th, 2020, 12 DynaGeners took part in the sharing seminar about the “Youth for environment” project held by VSF. The seminar aimed to discuss current environmental problems in Vietnam and the youth’s role in solving such issues. The seminar is an occasion for DynaGen students to get a deeper access to knowledge on the environment as well as an opportunity to express their attitude and perspective about today’s environmental problems.

  • Participating in the training course “Basic knowledge of the environment”

“Basic knowledge of the environment” is the first training course of the training series belonging to the “Youth for Environment” project founded by VSF. Through this training, students studied knowledge on sustainable development, carbon footprint, pollution problems and the role of youth in solving environmental problems.

  • Gift giving at Social Patronizing Center No.3 in Hanoi

31 textbook sets, 29 school supply sets and over 1000 glasses of TH TRUE milk were gifted to 80 children and 100 elderly at Social Patronizing Center No.3 in Hanoi by 5 DynaGen students – Organizers of the “Run for love” marathon and VSF representatives.

The “Run for love” marathon was initiated on March 7th, 2020 and quickly attracted 394 registered participants, and the total distance run by our athletes was 3,680.4 km. In conformance with this distance, VSF donated 18,402,052 VND in the charity fund to support difficult cases at the Social Patronizing Center No.3 in Hanoi. In addition to that, the athletes also contributed to the program an amount of 2,650,000VND. The total amount sponsored for the Social Patronizing Center No.3 in Hanoi was 21,052,052VND.

  • Participating in the activities of “I am strong” project

With the goal of building confidence, leadership capability and knowledge to enhance welfare and improve the working conditions of female workers, CARE International Vietnam in cooperation with VSF initiated “I am strong” project in Thanh Hoa province. In this project, 6 DynaGeners took part in the meetings with workers in the roles of secretaries and supporters. In the process of joining this project, the students will learn and accumulate much more knowledge and experience in community development.
