At Cruz Rosa, every quarter brings new stories of courage: women who arrive seeking support, patients who complete their treatment, volunteers who give their time, and individuals and organizations who believe in our mission that no woman should have to face cancer alone.
Behind every number is a woman navigating one of the most difficult moments of her life. Your support helps ensure that cancer treatment does not also mean facing hunger, unsafe housing, isolation, or the loss of dignity.
More Than Shelter: Creating Spaces to Heal
At Cruz Rosa, we know that caring for women with cancer means addressing more than their medical needs. It means creating spaces where they can reconnect with themselves, express their emotions, and feel supported throughout their treatment journey.
This quarter, our beneficiaries participated in activities designed to promote emotional well-being and self-care, including an art therapy workshop, a yoga session, and facial care treatments.
We also created moments of connection through a volunteer-led creative session, during which volunteers developed a story filled with messages of support and affection for the women at Cruz Rosa.
These moments may seem simple, but they can make a meaningful difference. They remind our beneficiaries that they are more than their diagnosis — and that they do not have to walk this journey alone.
Restoring Confidence and Dignity
For women recovering from breast cancer, access to an external breast prosthesis can be an important part of rebuilding confidence and feeling more comfortable in their bodies.
We were also grateful to provide opportunities for our beneficiaries to create meaningful memories. In collaboration with Gerardo Cárdenas, women and their families participated in photography sessions as a special Mother's Day gift.
These experiences are part of our broader commitment to accompanying women with dignity, compassion, and respect throughout their cancer journey.
A Story of Hope: Marisol's Journey
One of the women we accompanied this quarter was Marisol, a 43-year-old breast cancer patient from Tepic, Nayarit.
Coming to Guadalajara for treatment meant leaving behind the familiarity of home and facing an uncertain experience in a city where she did not know anyone. At Cruz Rosa, she found more than a place to stay — she found a community.
During her time with us, Marisol also received an external breast prosthesis, which helped her regain confidence and feel better about herself.
“I didn't know anyone and I didn't know what it would be like to be far from home. But from the moment I arrived at Cruz Rosa, they made me feel like family, and that gave me so much peace. Receiving my external breast prosthesis also made me very happy. It helped me regain confidence and feel better about myself. I leave very grateful because here I found much more than support; I found people who made this journey much easier.”
— Marisol, 43, breast cancer patient from Tepic, Nayarit
Marisol's story reflects what we see every day: women often arrive carrying not only the physical challenges of cancer treatment, but also fear, uncertainty, financial pressure, and the loneliness of being far from home.
Our role is to help make that journey a little lighter.
Food That Nourishes and Connects
One of the programs that experienced significant growth this quarter was our “Alimento que Sana” initiative.
For many patients who travel from other communities to receive medical care, a meal can mean more than food. It can be a moment of care, warmth, and reassurance during a difficult day.
This program is possible because of the generosity of individuals, volunteers, and organizations who understand that supporting a woman with cancer also means caring for her most basic needs.
Through this initiative, we help ensure that women can focus on their treatment while receiving the nourishment and care they need during their stay.
A Network That Makes This Work Possible
Our impact was strengthened by partners who chose to stand alongside Cruz Rosa.
We are grateful to the individuals, companies, volunteers, and organizations whose generosity and commitment help us provide a safe place to stay, food, transportation, emotional support, rehabilitation, prostheses, and other essential services to women facing cancer.
These partnerships demonstrate what becomes possible when a community comes together around a shared purpose.
Strengthening the Organization Behind the Mission
While our focus remains on the women we serve, we also know that a strong organization is essential to sustaining quality care.
Throughout the quarter, we continued working behind the scenes to strengthen the resources, relationships, and support systems that allow Cruz Rosa to accompany women and their families with compassion and consistency.
Every effort made to strengthen our organization helps us remain present for women when they need us most.
Thank You for Walking With Us
Every safe night, every meal, every medical appointment reached on time, every rehabilitation session, every moment of emotional support, and every restored sense of confidence is possible because people choose to stand with women facing cancer.
Your support reaches a mother who can focus on her treatment because she has a safe place to stay.
It reaches a woman who can arrive at her appointment because transportation was available.
It reaches a patient who feels more confident after receiving an external breast prosthesis.
It reaches a family that receives food during a difficult season.
And it reaches women like Marisol, who came to Guadalajara far from home and found a community that made her feel less alone.
Thank you for being part of that community.
Because of your generosity, we can continue to stand beside women, step by step, reminding them that no woman should have to face cancer alone.
