Persevering Together

By Marianella Paul | Director

Dear friends and donors,

I am thrilled to report from the field these recent and encouraging testimonials from the teachers we train. These testimonials illuminate OUR collective impact and inspire us to persevere in fostering inclusion.

  • ·       “I'm grateful for this learning opportunity; it's wonderful to learn about neurodiversity. Identifying these conditions, understanding how they learn (visual, auditory, sensory, through doing, speaking, etc.), how to include them, and how we get the rest of our classmates to integrate and accept them—makes me feel like a more human teacher.”
  • ·       “I think it's important to unlearn about neurodiversity and broaden our perspective. What's different shouldn't frighten us; it's another window to appreciate the wonder of human beings.”
  • ·       “Knowing about neurodiversity and understanding how they view life and the world allows me to better interact and achieve results in different aspects of life.”

According to the most recent figures, 1 in 7 individuals are neurodiverse, and 1 in 31 children are diagnosed with autism. How can we build a society where diversity fosters compassion, creativity, and productivity?

At Autismo en Voz Alta, we are committed to persevering and contributing effectively by focusing on our strengths rather than our differences. Your support strengthens us and creates opportunities to face challenges and make a difference. Thank you for joining the journey.

Our work continues to reach an ever-increasing number of families and is changing how educational institutions address neurodiversity. Hundreds of kids and young adults are positively impacted in these educational communities:

Our psychoeducational team is successfully tackling - 650 families annually - the educational and developmental challenges of children and adolescents with autism, providing:

  • Classroom-based psychoeducational programs in three different formats - a morning weekly full-time program, an afternoon program four days a week, and a morning 3 and 2 days per week - to address the needs of our families
  • "Virtual" and in-person diagnostic service for those able and unable to travel.
  • Therapy services.

Our training team continues to train and empower educators and counselors —150+ this year —to adopt a different approach and mindset to including neurodiverse persons in their classrooms and organizations. We are working through our "Acercamiento a la Neurodiversidad" programs and products with a university, several mainstream and online schools, and two youth camps.

Thank you for your trust and unwavering support. In these dire times, your financial backing is the bedrock of our work. Your generosity drives awareness and progress.

With profound gratitude, Marianella
