COVID continues to spike throughout Navajo Nation, with cases exceeding the alarming numbers set back in May with over 13,744 current cases. 55 communities have been identified, within Navajo Nation, with the uncontrolled spreading of COVID. Tuba City is one of those communities with a recent count of 1,443 positive cases.
In partnership with Rio Tinto, Oskar Blues Brewery, and the giving community of GlobalGiving, Can’d Aid has shipped and distributed 50,400 cans of clean drinking water to Tuba City. Families were able to pick up cases of water at the Western Navajo Nation Fairgrounds.
From the onset of COVID and upon learning of the tremendous need, Can'd Aid began providing canned drinking water to Navajo Nation and the Hopi Tribe. To date, Can’d Aid has sent over 230,000 cans of water to the region. We are currently assessing ways in which we can partner with other organizations, to identify and provide more permanent solutions to support the people of the Navajo Nation on a long-term basis.
