Project Report | May 30, 2023
Drinking water and sanitation for children

By Staff | International Freedom Council

The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the fundraising efforts conducted during the first month of the year. During 2023 we have strived to obtain the resources for the following campaign objectives: 1. Raise funds for the construction and installation of a water treatment plant for Mano Amiga La Montaña Institute (400 students). 2. Raise funds for water treatment to meet safety and quality standards for the deep well of Mano Amiga Mariche Institute (1000 students).

In Turgua, Miranda state, the community of Mano Amiga La Montaña the initiative aims to improve the quality and accessibility of water for the school and its community of 3000 people.

The existing deep well project conducted in January 2023 for the second school Mano Amiga Mariche Institute provides a substantial amount of waterhowever, it requires treatment to meet safety and quality standards.

The installation of a water treatment plant for Mariche would ensure that the school and its community have access to clean and safe water.

IFC has reached out to local businesses and community organizations seeking sponsorship for the water treatment plant project. Meetings were held with potential sponsors, highlighting the positive impact their support would have on the health and well-being of the school community.

An awareness campaign was launched to educate the community about the importance of clean water and the need for a water treatment plant.

The donation of one water treatment plant for Mano Amiga La Montaña will be instrumental in realizing this project. The school and its community will benefit from a sustainable source of clean and safe drinking water, ensuring the health and well-being of all those involved.

Worldwide, about 3 in 10 people, or 2.1 billion people, lack access to safe and available water at home, and 6 in 10, or 4.4 billion, lack safe sanitation, according to a new report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.  Access to drinking water and sanitation is a human right, yet 90% of Venezuela's population does not have this right protected or guaranteed.
