This helps us create a whole medical expedition to the heart of the Amazon Rainforest!
Para is one of the most remote states in the Amazon. Communities suffer from extremely low physician density, often fewer than 1 doctor per 10,000 people. The Zoe tribe, in voluntary isolation, faces severe risks from contact due to their lack of immunity. Munduruku families are leaving their lands to seek care, weakening cultural roots. Thousands go without basic medical services, exams, or surgeries.
The expedition provides surgeries, consultations, ultrasounds, and eyeglasses to isolated Amazon communities. A mobile surgical team flies to the Zoe territory for laparoscopic surgeries. Medical professionals also visit Munduruku villages and riverine populations, offering pediatric, gynecological, and geriatric care, preserving their health and cultural presence in the forest.
By restoring health and trust, this project helps forest communities remain on their ancestral lands, strengthening cultural identity. Training locals in basic first aid empowers them to respond to emergencies, building autonomy and resilience. It also supports sustainable healthcare models adapted to Amazonian realities, with long-term impact on Indigenous well-being.
