The cyclone of 2003 and heavy rains of 2010, 2011 and 2012 as well as time to time breaches in LBOD, which have been badly affecting the overall drinking water sources, such as water ponds, hand pumps, water courses, well and water tanks either become contaminated or become dysfunctional in Union Council Roshanabad, Taluka Jhudo and District Mirpurkhas. The un-availability/access to clean drinking water further increases problems particularly for children, elderly and other vulnerable members i.e. women and girls of family.
With thanks to GlobalGiving, ARTS Foundation has installed two hand pumps in our Village Alam Khan Bhatti, through the Hand Pumps installation we have clean and easily available drinking water as well as saving travel time which was being used for fetching the water from the water course or ponds.
In the village, before installation of Hand Pumps, the situation was worse specially the women who use to fetch water for drinking as well as rest of chores i.e. water for washing utensils, cloths and other. Before installation of Hand Pumps, almost all women and girls were fetching water from water courses and open water ponds situated at distance 30 minutes, neither this water was clean nor near to homes. Through the installation of Hand Pumps, the village women and girls have no need to spend more time as well as travel to fetch water on regular basis.
Indeed, we are very thank full of the philanthropists, the GlobalGiving and ARST Foundation.
