REPORT ON MALARIA PREVENTION AND CONTROL IN UGANDA
PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) Uganda would like to extend her gratitude to the supporters and donors of this organization both on GlobalGiving and off GlobalGiving platform.
Without your generous support of our campaigns and programs, PLANE would not be anywhere but you have made us what we are.
With your support, PLANE remains committed to extending services to the rural needy communities in Uganda in terms of health, education, environment and empowerment.
Despite the fact that Uganda has one of the highest rates of Malaria in the world and accounts for 4% of global malaria cases, this campaign of intensifying the awareness creation among the children and communities to prevent and control malaria has not been embraced and supported.
This quarter, the campaign didn’t attract much to help us do our work as intended. We only received one dollar from an anonymous donor.
But as an organization with support from the local partners , we were able to conduct two TV shows on Fort TV, three radio talkshows on Voice of Toro 101 FM and invited leaders to discuss the strategies of how best we can prevent and control malaria.
We also drama skits on malaria prevention played on Voice of Tooro for a month to created more awareness about the problem.
Challenge:
This campaign has not received support despite the high prevalence rates especially among the children and pregnant women. We couldn’t reach out students and children in schools and people in communities because of lack of transport means..
We therefore asking the GlobalGiving staff to pause it until further notice.
Appeal: On behalf of PLANE, I appeal to our supporters for the continued support to enable us perform our duties and reach out more of the vulnerable population and offer them the information they need on disease prevention and control. Malaria has negative impact on health, education and even the economy.
