This is an update of the atentions given with the money raised throgh the GlobalGiving campaign to date:
Jaime's surgery was programmed for the first week of December 2021, and his prosthetic rehabilitation was to take place a month later. However, 2 days before traveling to Bogotá for the procedure, we lost contact with him, and the surgery had to be canceled. A week later, we found out that he was having second thoughts. Unfortunately, this is a common situation among this kind of patients. We are providing him psychological support in order to give him a second chance. To date, he has attended several appointments with our psychologist. We will update you with his evolution.
Angela Maria was traveling on a motorcycle, when she had a terrible accident that caused her a broken hand, several injuries to her face and body, and her right leg. After five days in the hospital in Maicao, Guajira, she was transferred to Valledupar, where the doctors decided to amputate her leg which has in a very bad condition. She has difficult Access to the health system, and her insurance did not cover the expenses. CIREC is now sponsoring her complete prosthetic rehabilitation, with the money raised through our GlobalGiving campaign.
Zuly is a young woman from the indiginous Embera community. While she was trying to get some fruits from a tree using a rope, a branch broke, entangling Zuly's foot and causing severe injuries. She was taken to the near town of Yoro to receive medical attention, however, they could not provide the necessary care, so she had to be transferred to Quibdó and later to Medellín where she underwent an amputation surgery. Because Zuly lives in a remote rural área CIREC has atended her with prosthetic rehabilitation for the last 3 years. Thanks to the donations raised through our GlobalGiving campaing, we where able to update her prosthesis.
We have also identified more tan 40 cases of people who live in rural areas of our country, that have difficult access to the health system and that are in urgent need of prosthesis rehabilitation. We will keep attending them through our sponsorship program, thanks to your generous donations.
