This proyect will provide free limb prostheses for Colombian amputees who live in vulnerable conditions with little or no access to the health system.
18% of the population in Colombia with low or no income is affiliated to the subsidized health system the government offers, that covers prosthetic rehabilitation. However, its very difficult for people with low income living in rural areas to access good quality and timely specialized medical care due to a lack of rehabilitation centers close to their place of residence and the high cost of transportation and lodging during their rehabilitation processes.
Cirec and Hughes International Clinic (HIC) will work together to provide a high quality medical attention and a free lower limb Prosthesis to amputees from all colombian territory, that have a difficult access to the health system and need it the most.
The project will promote social inclusion for people from vulnerable communities by facilitating their physical rehabilitation to continue their life project, recover their self-value and give them means to provide for their families.
