In our Society, no one is aware about Down Syndrome, its causes & rehabilitation to treat children at early stage. Actually Human cells normally contain 23 pairs of chromosomes. Down syndrome is caused by trisomy 21 - the person has three copies of chromosome 21, instead of the usual two copies, in all cells. Abnormality changes the habits of child, which can be treated through rehabilitation, we need due care for this child for bringing in mainstream life with community awareness.
Down Syndrome Children are not treated like human, they are called discriminated nomenclature Mangole, Darvesh, China Bacha & Allah Lok. In rural area there is no facility to early diagnose of Down Syndrome. So Children are not rehabilitated, educated, no even any skill development & jobs. The children life is with no means, they are wandering in the streets & show-pieces during ceremonies. There is dire need to solve these mentioned problems.
The project will support in early diagnose & awareness sessions for parents for future of this child & how to treat this kind of child. The child will be brought in NDF Rehab Center, Nawabshah for required therapies Psychotherapy & Speech Therapy as per age group. The child will be sent for schooling formal or informal for basic learning. The child/Person will be engaged in Skill Development for livelihood purpose as per age group. The child/Person will be placed for job as per skills & Age.
The long term mpact will be that the Society will be enabled to understand disability of Down Syndrome & will treat as human child is treated. The community awareness will support early diagnose & early detection & Intervention in this way children will be rehabilitated with due care with right time of age. Project will be Program of NDF & this cycle will be continued for years ahead. The present children will be replaced by others, same facilities will be provided for next generations as well.
