Activity Summary
In May, 11 of our 12 implementation partners organized a total of 11 underwater cleanup events across multiple dive sites. Together, 83 volunteers—including 73 scuba divers and 10 land-based volunteers—participated in these conservation efforts. Their collective work resulted in the removal of 81.895 kg of marine debris, comprising 313 individual waste items. This collaborative effort highlights the dedication of our partner network and volunteers in protecting underwater ecosystems while fostering greater public engagement in marine conservation.
Volunteer Voices from Nanjing Divers' Home
"We came across another large plastic mat buried under layers of silt. It looked like it had been underwater for a very long time. We believe it was once used on the pier and was simply discarded into the water after it became damaged."
"Qi Yu, a female diver visiting from Harbin, shared her excitement after the dive. She had originally come to Daqingshan for a recreational diving trip, but instead found herself unexpectedly taking part in a meaningful underwater cleanup. She said, 'I never imagined my holiday would include such a rewarding conservation activity. Blue Nature Alliance and Nanjing Divers' Home did an amazing job. When I return to Harbin, I'll definitely encourage more people around me to protect our precious water resources.'"
