We all have heard the news stories about families ripped apart by deportation. We hear less about the pets of these families. We are assisting families who are seeking temporary and permanent assistance for their pets as they leave the United States.
Owners and animals are being separated when owners are forced to leave the country and are unable to take their beloved pet with them.
Good Sense Dogs is offering assistance to these families. In some cases we will arrange for boarding until an animal may be reunited with its family. In other circumstances we may need to re-home these pets. In either case, Good Sense Dogs is providing the best care possible to these beloved furry family members. At times we may spay or neuter the animal, or see that the animal receives other veterinary care. We of course give our foster homes all the equipment and food they need.
The issue of the pets of the deported is not receiving enough attention. We aim to make the public aware and offer assistance to as many families as we are able. More and more people are impacted by deportation every day. The shelters in this country are already bursting at the seams. We wish to set up happy endings so these pets may live in permanency with people who love them for the rest of their days.
