Many children with dyslexia and other learning difficulties possess remarkable talents in leadership, sports, music, arts, innovation, and entrepreneurship. However, these abilities often remain hidden because educational systems and communities tend to focus solely on academic performance. As a result, thousands of children are labeled as underachievers, lose confidence, and are denied opportunities to thrive. Dyslexia Tanzania seeks to empower 1,000 children.
In Tanzania, awareness of dyslexia and other learning difficulties remains low. Many children struggle in school not because they lack intelligence, but because they learn differently. Unfortunately, these children are often misunderstood by teachers, parents, and peers. Without proper identification and support, children with learning difficulties frequently experience: Low self-esteem and lack of confidence Stigma and discrimination School absenteeism and poor academic performance
The Discover My Talent project will create a comprehensive support system that helps children identify and develop their talents while educating the communities around them. The project will: Identify hidden talents among children with learning difficulties. Build confidence and self-esteem through leadership and mentorship programs. Equip teachers with skills to recognize and support diverse learning needs. Educate parents on how to nurture their children's strengths. Promote inclusion
The "Discover My Talent: Unlocking Potential Beyond Learning Difficulties" project is designed to create lasting and systemic change in how children with dyslexia and other learning differences are identified, supported, and empowered in Tanzania. Beyond immediate participation in talent camps, training sessions, and awareness activities, the project will generate long-term impact at the individual, school, and community levels.
