Urgent plea for help: Help the survivors of the Turkey earthquake. In the early hours of 6 February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and Syria. This was followed by another 7.5 magnitude earthquake afterwards. Reports have put the death toll at more than 40 000 people with but it is expected that this number will rise and that there will be aftershocks. The scale of destruction is vast with millions displaced, sleeping on the floor in the snow. Survivors need urgent aid.
More than 40 000 people have been killed and more than 10 million people are left homeless after the devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. Hundreds of multiple storey homes can be seen destroyed or flattened for kilometers with people still trapped underneath rubble. These families are without food, medical support, sources of warmth, clean drinking water as there is Cholera in the tap water and shelter in the freezing temperatures and snowy weather conditions.
Hope SA foundation is raising funds and supplies to be utilized for the disaster relief. Our team travelled to Gaizantep, Adiyaman and Adana and next Syria. To safely execute and expedite the rescue mission, the following items are urgently needed: Tents, Sleeping Bags, Blankets, Portable Toilets, Generators, camp mats and Gas Heaters, safety gear, masks, clothing, gas cookers, medical supplies and medicine.
We are confident in our ability to provide resources and support over a long-term period with the help of our volunteers, medical staff, trauma counsellors and disaster response team and most importantly our sponsors and donors. Every bit of help makes a difference. Our provision of makeshift shelters, food aid and medical support will support survivors while the affected areas rebuild.
