As unemployment, rising food prices and poverty continue to impact South African families, Hope is providing life-saving support to vulnerable babies, women and children. Through our feeding programme, we will deliver 10,000 nutritious meals and essential basic necessities to those facing hunger. Every donation helps put food on the table.
South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. For the families we serve, unemployment means means empty plates, hungry children, and parents forced to choose between food, rent, medicine or school essentials. Nearly one in three households experiences food insecurity, while poverty often goes hand in hand with abuse, homelessness and poor mental health. Many arrive at school hungry, struggle to concentrate, fall behind in their learning, or leave school.
Hope SA tackles the root causes of hunger and poverty affecting vulnerable communities and child-headed households. We provide daily hot, nutritious meals, food hampers, and essential basic necessities to children and struggling families. We also support survivors of gender-based violence and empower girls through education and our Safer Women Care Packs. Every month, families receive food hampers that help sustain a household of four, while our community gardens create long-term food security,
Hope SA's feeding programmes help children grow up healthy, nourished, and able to focus on their education instead of an empty stomach. We give families hope by easing the daily burden of putting food on the table. Our hygiene packs help families stay healthy and reduce the spread of preventable illness. Our Safer Women Care Packs educate and empower women and girls, helping reduce school absenteeism, restore dignity and break cycles of abuse. These initiatives keep hope alive.
