Moya is a CBO that strives to assist communities. This project focuses on adolescents to make sure that they get assistance with toiletries as they embrace the changes in their bodies. Both young girls and boys benefit from this program. However, girls still seem to experience more cases of lack of hygiene items hence this project still focuses more on girls. We would like to inform our sponsors that this project has gone a long way into restoring the dignity of our youth and it assisted in getting away with the anxiety that comes with the lack of hygiene items.
We have been experiencing few cases of Covid-19 but we are still behind on the vaccine roll-out. The need to assist communities has grown since head of families continue to lose jobs due to Covid19.With the schools being closed now and again, young people get to have plenty of time doing nothing. There has been increased cases of teenage pregnancy in the community. As an organization that is based in the community, we have taken time to educate young people about Sexual Reproductive Health.
We continued to support young people with providing the dignity packs. We distributed the items in (8) eight schools, (4) four high schools and (4) four primary schools. In the past three months, we distributed about 125 items. With schools still closed due to the unrest, we have seen a number of young people coming to our organization for the dignity packs. This is especially to those who live close to Moya. Moya has youth Clubs in the community, some young people use those clubs to ask for the dignity packs. Young people still need these items even though they are at home. Hence, they are welcome to come to Moya.
With the political unrest and Covid19 negative impact on families, there is a growing need for the hygiene hampers. We have also seen a rise in the number of young people who lack the hygiene hampers. Our donor’s continued assistance will go a long way into keeping the dignity our young people and ensure they are spared from the stress and anxiety that comes with lacking the basic hygiene.
