Even though children (formerly child labour or drop outs) are going back to school, in the critical regions that CRY works in, there still lies a huge gap between them and their privileged counterparts in terms of learning opportunities. Most children in these regions have no access to technology, they are far behind and there is dire need for inducting them into digital age by exposing them to technology for the purpose of bettering their future prospects.
Digital Empowerment of Marginalised Children as a project was initiated just a few months ago and we started to reach out donors like you. With support from you we have been able so far put in a project plan, study the number of children and dynamics of availability of children for this project.
We have reached out to professionals within CRY- Child Rights and You, met with experts in India who have already implemented similar projects and we are devising a realistic and sustainable model to have an effective program in place.
The project aims at introducing and helping children to overcome inhibitions towards technology. The project is designed such that children will access learn and get comfortable with tabs, laptops, apps and effectively engaging in games, educative programs, life skills and understanding their rights in digital environment. As the deployment will be in children's collective ( around 25 of of 6-18 year olds), children learn hands-on in interactive sessions, sharing and teaching each other.
Currently, our IT division is taking up many measures to ensure that our grassroot partners get familiar to technology, prcessess and databases they'll need to handle for implementation of the project. So that there is right paced introduction of technology to all stakeholders involved.
Coming up: On one hand we will be identifying the community workers(organisers) from the projects who will have to be trained to take the program forward effectively; these community organisers will undergo intensive training to engage and teach children. They will be the center of the project as they will also take the program to community in the future.
And on the other hand we are approaching donors such as you to help us keep the momentum as the project involves immense costs from planning to execution levels.
We are thankful for your donation, as it has helped us that much to go forward with the project and instilled a hope in us that your continued support will help us succeed.
Faithfully Yours,
Prithvi
