Project Report | Aug 19, 2025
Healing Hearts Project

By Qasim Alowaid/Roz Fuller | President/Vice-President

Iraq Children’s Hope – “Healing Hearts” Project Quarterly Update May – August 2025

This quarter, Iraq Children’s Hope launched Healing Hearts, a renewed initiative focused on delivering not only medical aid but also emotional comfort, nutritional care, and educational opportunities for children bravely fighting cancer in Iraq.

Highlights of the Quarter

1. Medical Care & Treatment Access

      - Arranged life-saving blood tests for 9 children to ensure timely adjustments to their treatment plans.

      - Provided chemotherapy transportation support for 6 families, reducing the stress and cost burden of frequent hospital visits.

      - Delivered specialized wound care kits to 6 children to prevent infections during immunosuppressed periods.

2. Nutrition for Strength

     - Distributed nutrient-rich meal kits to 10 children to boost energy levels and support recovery.

     - Introduced fresh fruit baskets for children undergoing long treatment sessions, ensuring healthy snacking options during hospital stays.

3. Learning & Emotional Support

      - Launched a “Storytime Smiles” corner in the pediatric oncology ward, supplying colorful storybooks and holding weekly reading sessions with volunteers.

     - Provided homework assistance kits, complete with notebooks, pencils, and coloring tools, to help children keep pace with their schooling.

4. Family Support & Empowerment

     - Held a parents’ guidance workshop on stress management, nutrition, and home care tips during treatment.

     -  Connected families to peer-to-peer support groups, building a community of encouragement and shared experience.

                                                       Our Ongoing Commitment

Healing Hearts is more than a project; it’s a promise. Every meal served, every book read, and every hospital trip supported is a step toward giving these children the chance to heal, grow, and dream.

With your generosity, we will continue expanding medical aid, increasing access to essential resources, and bringing light to the lives of Iraq’s most vulnerable young fighters.

Together, we turn hope into healing
