This project will save sight of 13329 persons in project area covering 4.2 million population by Awareness generation amongst at least 50,000 persons about DR and screenig of 15000 persons.
Diabetes Mellitus is a condition in which increase blood glucose level resulting in damage to all parts of body but mainly eyes, kidney, heart and foot are target organs. When diabetes affacts eye perticularly retina condition termed as DR responsible for blindness, usually affact young professionals causing productivity loss. Insidence of Diabetes 5% and 10% in rural and urban areas respectively.DR usually affacts 20% diabetics i.e 13329 persons at risk of blindness in project area-4.2 m
Proposed project will screen persons for diabetes and DR in project area by means of hospital, opportunistic and tele screening by using fundus camera and tele link. Persons detected with DR- Laser/Surgery. Awareness generation- many methods
Screening, treatment and awareness drive will change persons behaviour so that persons will take initiative for screening and treatment. Human resources development- more service coverage. End result is reduction in avoidable blindness.
