Henry is asking you to help others like Him.
Global Giving Photo Contest Selection
Dear Dharamsala Animal Rescue friends,
You could consider Henry unlucky or lucky, depending on how you look at this.
DAR rescued Henry almost a year ago. He was just a wee pup and had been hit by a car. His leg was badly mangled. We tried to save it, but unfortunately, the damage was too severe and we needed to amputate.
Like most stray dogs we rescue, his immune system was really poor. He was thin; he had been in shock after the accident and needed all of his strength to recover from the amputation.
Throughout all of it, he was friendly and sweet...you could tell he was happy to get a second chance on life.
Unfortunately, because of his low immunity, he ended up contracting a low strain of distemper (a disease that can kill puppies by attacking their nervous system). He then needed to be isolated from the other dogs, and he could only be touched with gloves...not an idea environment for healing.
The distemper ended up causes one of his eyes to become completely grey and impaired his vision. At this point, we were not sure Henry was going to pull through.
During all of this, Richard, our Operations Manager, fell in love with Henry. He spent all of his free time with Henry in isolation, giving him extra food and lots of love and encouragement to pull through. He even decided he would adopt Henry if he made it.
What can I say? Love really truly does heal all! Henry, over time, regained his eyesight, got strong enough to walk on his three legs, and today, is one healthy, happy, spoiled dog.
He is so handsome; he is featured in the Global Giving 2017 Photo Contest giving Richard a big hug.
Henry asks that you will vote for his photo in hopes of Dharamsala Animal Rescue winning $1000 to help more stray animals in need, just like him.
The contest beings today, Monday, May 22nd at 12:00:01 EDT and ends on Friday, May 26th at 12:00:01 EDT. To check you time zone click here.
