With this project, ProNinos will provide assistance to children from 8 to 17 years of age from Mexico City and the State of Mexico who live in family, school and community contexts in which various types of violence prevail; supporting them in the development of emotional, social and cognitive skills that allow them to recognize risk behaviors and situations , identify their consequences and generate factors that allow them to face them.
In Mexico, adolescents deal with contexts of life marked by inequality, violence and exclusion inside their family and community environment. This factors force teenagers to break their family, school and community links and connect themselves with the risks of the street, which in many cases immerses them in diverse situations that expose them to the consumption of drugs, school desertion, connections with criminal groups, sexual exploitation and practices that pose a risk to them.
Pro Ninos has created a comprehensive strategy for the development of emotional, social and cognitive skills that will enable teens to strengthen their family and school ties, stay away from risky situations and think about a life plan in the medium term to continue with their studies and further develop their potential in a safe and healthy way.
Teenagers participating in the program will develop emotional, social and cognitive skills they can use permanently to make better choices for their life, commit themselves with a positive and healthy life plan and cope efficiently with the various challenges their poverty contexts imply to cope with.
