Last month, A group of outstanding ASIJ graduating seniors took a field trip to the Oracle Corporation offices in Tokyo. David, a current ASIJ parent who is the Senior Director of Global Account Sales for Oracle, facilitated the visit.
Students were able to see the way data storage is managed on a massive scale for a company that specializes in cloud services, and learned about how Oracle supports business structures through its wide range of technology services. Students particularly interested in the fields of programming, marketing and corporate social responsibility (CSR) were also able to engage directly with representatives from the Oracle team. In addition, they met with two ASIJ alumni who now work for the company along with Oracle Japan's beloved mascot, Candy the English Sheepdog.
Students in our Impact Program, our Entrepreneurial Japanese course and our Programming courses were also able to see the kinds of projects that companies like Oracle take part in as a socially responsible company that understands the value of giving back to the community. In addition to setting a leading example for CSR, Oracle hosts a range of learning resources through Oracle Academy and Oracle University-- services that may provide future connections for programming courses at ASIJ. ASIJ is constantly looking for new opportunities to provide mentoring from companies like Oracle for our students' professional and personal development.
