This project will build a home for the children in Western Kenya, creating a safe haven and opportunities for education and vocational training. This includes abandoned and destitute children, with some also escaping the threat of early marriage, prostitution, and/or street gangs.
The children are already in a home, Destiny Hope Rescue Center, that requires maintaining and sustaining. Funding is raised mainly through voluntary donations given from individuals and can be sporadic. Lack of owned facilities increases operational costs, and makes meeting goals of ensuring the children properly equipped with skills upon completion of their time in the home difficult to achieve.
Building our own facilities which will be done in a way that will maximize efficiency, future growth, and separate boys' and girls' quarters. Also, it will include dignified living space for staff members. Thus, it will cut the operational cost, creating a sustainable haven. The second phase will provide for opportunity to train the children in Vocational skills that will give them a chance to be self-employed, offering more options to better their lives and those of the community.
A sustainable center that will be run by community members, helping young destitute children have a hope for the future. This will be done through training in practical skills that will be income generating and help support the home. As a community learning center it will teach life skills not just to those who will be in the home but at some point at a reasonable fee be open to those in the surrounding community.
